CHARLESTOWN, MA, May 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Coleman has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Coleman has established a notable career in economic consulting and antitrust, currently serving as the senior managing director and head of U.S. antitrust at Compass Lexecon, one of the world's leading economic consulting firms, in Boston since 2025. In this capacity, she maintains a consulting practice focused on antitrust matters, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions from a competition perspective as well as providing expert support for antitrust litigation. Her responsibilities include leading the U.S. antitrust group, which comprises approximately 100 economists, managing the team, setting strategic direction, and shaping the practice's approach to market growth and hiring.

Affiliated with the Washington, D.C.-based firm for over 15 years, Dr. Coleman began serving as a senior vice president in early 2009 and executive vice president later that same year. During her tenure, she contributed significantly to the firm's expansion in antitrust consulting, developing expertise in both testifying and supporting expert testimony in complex litigation and regulatory proceedings.

Before joining Compass Lexecon, Dr. Coleman worked at LECG Corporation from 1993 to 2001 and again between 2004 and 2009. In these roles, she functioned as an economic consultant, focusing on competition and antitrust matters similar to her later work at Compass Lexecon.

Between her tenures at LECG Corporation, Dr. Coleman served as the deputy director for antitrust in the Bureau of Economics at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission from 2001 to 2004. In this leadership position, she oversaw significant antitrust investigations and policy initiatives, strengthening her expertise in regulatory economics. Dr. Coleman began her professional journey at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission between 1990 and 1993, working in antitrust enforcement. This foundational experience introduced her to the field that would become her lifelong focus.

Dr. Coleman's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in economics and mathematics from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, earned in 1986, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in labor economics from Stanford University in Stanford, California, conferred in 1990. While at Stanford, Dr. Coleman focused on labor economics while receiving broad training across economic disciplines.

Active in her professional community, Dr. Coleman is an associate member (non-lawyer member) of the American Bar Association and has participated in the leadership of its antitrust section, holding various roles over the years and contributing to key initiatives as members rotate through leadership positions. Beyond her professional achievements, she contributes to various causes by supporting events organized by friends or family members, such as charity races.

Dr. Coleman's accomplishments have been recognized with several honors, including being named among the Top 10 Women in Antitrust by Global Competition Review and consistently being recognized as a Thought Leader and Recommended Economist for more than a decade. She credits much of her success to the mentorship received from colleagues and supervisors throughout her career, support from legal professionals involved in her cases and a strong work ethic instilled by her family.

Throughout her career, Dr. Coleman has been recognized for establishing herself as a leading voice in antitrust, a field where women remain underrepresented, and for mentoring early-career professionals. She is particularly proud of building a life where professional ambition coexists with personal fulfillment through intentional choices.

Looking ahead, Dr. Coleman aims to continue building the antitrust and competition practice at her firm while mentoring younger staff members to help them grow professionally. She is also considering ways to remain active both professionally and personally by exploring flexible volunteer opportunities that allow her to make meaningful contributions beyond her formal career.
