Before joining Denver International Airport, Ms. Ortwein was a senior aviation project manager at WSP from 2018 to 2020. In this role, she contributed her expertise to large-scale aviation infrastructure projects, further developing her skills in project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
From 2015 to 2018, Ms. Ortwein served as an associate director at Turner & Townsend. During this period, she played a key role leading the PMO at DFW Airport support the delivery of major construction programs and managing multidisciplinary teams on complex assignments.
Between 2012 and 2015, Ms. Ortwein served as a senior project controls manager at Turner & Townsend in the New York City metropolitan area. She contributed to high-profile developments, including Hudson Yards, where she implemented robust controls and ensured Time Warner's operational requirements were achieved.
Her international experience includes serving as senior project controls manager for Turner & Townsend in Chile and Argentina from 2011 to 2012. There, she was involved in the construction of a gold mine spanning both countries, gaining valuable insights into cross-border project management and resource coordination.
Ms. Ortwein's career began with Turner & Townsend in London from 2008 to 2011 as a project controls manager. Her first major construction assignment was at Heathrow Airport, where she worked on the Terminal 2 program and an additional concourse. This pivotal experience propelled her into project and program management, laying the foundation for her future leadership roles.
Before entering the construction sector, Ms. Ortwein worked as an assistant planner at Network Rail from 2007 to 2008, supporting planning efforts for the King's Cross Rail infrastructure projects.
Her early professional journey included serving as a project coordinator at Primavera Systems (Oracle) from 2004 to 2007. In this capacity, she gained foundational experience in coordinating technology-driven projects and supporting enterprise-level clients.
Ms. Ortwein's academic background is distinguished by a Master of Arts degree from Universität Leipzig in Leipzig, Germany, completed in 2003. She also earned a diploma in business studies and international marketing from the Institute of Technology Sligo in Sligo, Ireland, in 2001. These academic achievements have provided her with a multidisciplinary perspective that has proven invaluable throughout her career.
Further enhancing her expertise, Ms. Ortwein completed the Data Science: Bridging Principles and Practice course at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley in 2020.
