SAINT HELENA ISLAND, SC, May 12, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jessica Fripp, PhD, LPC, NCC, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A distinguished associate professor at Adler University since 2025, Dr. Fripp has established herself as a leader in counselor education and supervision. In her current role, she draws on a wealth of academic and professional experience to mentor students and contribute to the university's mission of advancing social justice and community well-being.

Prior to joining Adler University, Dr. Fripp served as an associate professor at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, from 2021 to 2026. During her tenure, she was also appointed associate dean of the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences from 2021 to 2023. Overseeing curriculum development, faculty mentorship and student engagement across multiple departments, her leadership was pivotal in fostering an inclusive academic environment and educating students in the legal and ethical aspects of mental health counseling. Her outstanding dedication saw her recognized with the Martin Luther King Jr. Inclusion Award from the school's Office of Institutional Culture in 2025.

From 2017 to 2021, Dr. Fripp held the position of assistant professor at Austin Peay State. Contributing significantly to the Department of Psychological Science and Counseling, she guided students through rigorous coursework and research initiatives in counseling and career development. She was presented with the Socrates Award for Teaching Excellence — a prestigious honor awarded based on merit and open to all faculty members who have not yet achieved tenure — in 2022. In her final year of eligibility, she was nominated twice and ultimately selected as one of three awardees among five colleges.

In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Fripp worked as a part-time clinical therapist at the Sexual Assault Center in 2019, providing trauma-informed care to survivors and supporting their recovery journeys. Her teaching expertise further expanded during her time as an assistant clinical professor and internship coordinator at Auburn University from 2015 to 2017, during which she supervised graduate students in clinical placements and taught courses in communication, diversity in counseling and advanced clinical practices.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Fripp served as a research assistant and graduate teaching assistant at the University of South Carolina from 2012 to 2014, contributing to research projects with a focus on counseling practices and supporting undergraduate instruction in psychology courses. Beginning her professional journey as a clinical supervisor at Youth Villages, she managed in-home services for at-risk youth aged 12 to 17 and addressed issues such as truancy and aggression while navigating complex family dynamics.

Alongside her primary roles, Dr. Fripp's professional affiliations reflect her dedication to advancing inclusive competence and counselor education. She served as president of the Alabama division of the Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development from 2016 to 2017. Additionally, she is an active member of the American Counseling Association, the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the Association for Humanistic Counseling.

Hailing from an equally foundational academic background, Dr. Fripp earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Winthrop University in 2007. Inspired by an early interest in women's advocacy and interpersonal relationships, she pursued a Master of Education in counseling and development at Winthrop, graduating in 2010. Recognizing the importance of strength-based approaches in counseling, she continued her studies at the University of South Carolina, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in counselor education and supervision in 2015.

Reflecting on her storied journey to date, Dr. Fripp is grateful to have a strong faith that keeps her grounded and guides her interactions with others. She also attributes her success to kindness, empathy, patience, determination and the unwavering love and support from her family — qualities that have shaped both her character and professional relationships.

Dr. Fripp's scholarly contributions include serving as a journal reviewer for the Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development, which she began in 2024. Beyond the academic realm, she is civically engaged as a volunteer with her local church community and remains committed to service through outreach initiatives that promote inclusion and support underserved populations.

Determined to further her impact in the coming years, Dr. Fripp continues to set ambitious goals for herself both professionally and personally. She aims to complete her licensure supervision credential and plans to train students pursuing clinical internships after graduation until they qualify for licensure.

Additionally, Dr. Fripp seeks opportunities for public speaking engagements that focus on navigating diverse classroom environments while maintaining one's personal well-being. She values both giving and receiving mentorship and intends to expand her involvement in presentations while considering future administrative roles within higher education settings. Her enduring commitment to education, advocacy and mentorship continues to shape the field of counselor education while inspiring colleagues and students alike through her shining example of service-driven leadership.
