In this capacity, Col. Pawlak directs a team responsible for overseeing and ensuring the integrity of all wing operations, including resource management, regulatory compliance and investigations.

Since 2023, Col. Pawlak has also served as chief of case management for the Secretary of the Air Force Inspector General at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, where he manages complex investigations and oversees inspector general activities across multiple states and territories. His expertise in investigations, command, personnel management, strategic planning and resource allocation has been instrumental in directing operational readiness and spearheading critical force management programs.

In 2023, Col. Pawlak held the position of inspector general for the 911th Airlift Wing at Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station in Pennsylvania. The previous year, he was branch chief of training and analysis with the Air Force Reserve Command Inspector General at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. In 2021 to 2022, he served as chief of the director's action group for Air Force Reserve Command A1 at Robins Air Force Base.

Col. Pawlak's leadership extended to his role as deputy for readiness and integration with Air Force Reserve Command A1R at Robins Air Force Base from 2020 to 2021 and as branch chief of force management with Air Force Reserve Command A1KK from 2019 to 2020. He previously served as branch chief of training and analysis with the Air Force Reserve Command Inspector General from 2016 to 2019.

His academic pursuits included a year as a student at Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama from 2015 to 2016. From 2013 to 2015, he commanded the 910th Force Support Squadron at Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Ohio, after leading the 916th Force Support Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina from 2011 to 2013.

Col. Pawlak's earlier assignments included serving as chief of protocol for U.S. Air Forces Central Command/Ninth Air Force at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina from 2010 to 2011; executive officer for the 916th Mission Support Group at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base from 2009 to 2011; commander of sustainment flight for the 4th Force Support Squadron at Seymour Johnson from 2006 to 2009; and chief of protocol (civilian) for the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson from 2006 to 2010.

He was a protocol officer at Headquarters Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia from 2005 to 2006; chief of resource management flight for the 4th Services Squadron at Seymour Johnson from 2004 to 2005; commander of services support flight for the same squadron from 2002 to 2004; and a student at Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama in 2002.

From 1998 to 2002, Col. Pawlak was an instructor at the Security Forces Academy with the 343rd Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He previously served as response force team leader with the 7th Security Police Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas from 1995 to 1998; eighty-eight millimeter mortar gun crew commander with the 8th Security Police Squadron at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea from 1994 to 1995; and security police member at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota from his enlistment in May 1992 until his assignment overseas.

In addition to his military service, Col. Pawlak began serving as senior vice president of shared services at Channel Partner Solutions in April, following an immersion program that began in January, during which he volunteered to attend meetings and engage with colleagues before officially assuming his duties. He was also a professor specializing in employee relations and workplace ethics with Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University.

Col. Pawlak's most notable achievement is his rise through the ranks from a young airman joining the United States Air Force in May 1992 to his retirement as a colonel—a distinction achieved by only a small percentage of military personnel. His drive and determination have enabled him to overcome challenges across continents while moving his family multiple times and working internationally.

His academic credentials are extensive and have played a pivotal role throughout his career trajectory. He earned a Doctor of Management in organizational leadership from the University of Phoenix in Arizona in 2012, which provided advanced insight into leadership strategies that have informed both his military command roles and corporate responsibilities. He completed a Master of Arts degree in military operational art and science studies from Air Command and Staff College in Alabama in 2016 after completing coursework through its non-residence program in 2014.

Col. Pawlak holds two Master of Arts degrees—one in human resources development and another in management—from Webster University in Missouri, both conferred in 2002. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational education from Wayland Baptist University in Texas in 2000. His foundational studies include an Associate of Arts degree in technology and military science (2000) and an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice (1999), both awarded by the Community College of the Air Force.

He further enhanced his professional knowledge through completion of Squadron Officers School coursework (2009), AFIT FSS protocol fundamentals coursework (Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, 2009), aerospace basic course (Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, 2005) and services one hundred one fundamentals coursework (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, 2005). He completed non-resident studies at the Air War College (2020).

Col. Pawlak credits two mentors who shaped his life: Jim Ward, a former senior enlisted airman and civilian director who inspired confidence during formative years; and Master Sergeant Thomas Taylor, who guided him toward productive leadership during his assignment to Korea by emphasizing responsibility toward others within the mission-focused environment.

His civic engagement includes more than 2 years of coaching middle school basketball teams in Macon, Georgia, as well as volunteering as a basketball and soccer coach, demonstrating a commitment to youth development beyond professional obligations.

Numerous honors mark Col. Pawlak's decorated career: General Robert J. As an author, Col. Pawlak contributed "A Phenomenological Study: The Influence of Professional Athletes' Unethical Behavior on Amateur Athletes," published through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (2012). He was also a coauthor of "Ethics in Sports: The Social Responsibility of Elite Athletes," featured in The Refractive Thinker Volume VII: Social Responsibilities.

Born in Lincoln Park, Michigan, Col. Pawlak enjoys spending time outdoors with his children, Dalton and Addison—engaging in activities such as walking, backyard soccer or yardwork—and finds relaxation listening to music while mowing the lawn or washing the car.
