Before his current venture, Mr. Amorim served as the senior director of global corporate strategy at TD SYNNEX from 2021 to 2024. In this capacity, he oversaw worldwide strategic initiatives for businesses with revenues above $60 billion. Reporting directly to the chief strategy officer, Mr. Amorim led transformational teams across the globe and supported the C-suite team with Board Meetings and Corporate Investors. Mr. Amorim's tenure at TD SYNNEX was preceded as Global Market Strategy in the Cybersecurity space, valued at approximately $25 billion worldwide.
From 2019 to 2020, Mr. Amorim held positions at Tech Data as the director of global market management and strategy and as the director of North America sales and solutions. In these roles, he was responsible for driving growth strategies across multiple regions and leading teams through complex market transitions. Mr. Amorim joined Tech Data in 2017 as a sales and solutions director for Latin America. He was subsequently appointed interim country managing director in Mexico City, overseeing all operations for several months. After his period leading the Mexico office, Mr. Amorim was assigned to lead the North American business at the world's largest technology distributor at that time, where he had previously been sent as part of IBM's Champions for Growth program, in which top talent executives have the opportunity to work with IBM's business partners.
Mr. Amorim's earlier career included significant leadership roles within IBM for more than a decade, starting in 2006 as a country process and business controls before advancing to sales operations and controls manager until 2010. He then led the Latin America software factory from 2010 to 2011 and managed business partner programs for the region until 2012. Between 2012 and 2013, Mr. Amorim served as the territory sales executive, targeting his career into banking and retail clients before becoming the senior client executive for distribution from 2013 to 2015. He continued his ascent as Latin America sales executive for distribution until 2017 before joining Avnet Technologies, later acquired by Tech Data.
Additionally, Mr. Amorim has contributed his expertise as an advisory board member at RJF Capital since 2020. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated extraordinary abilities recognized by his attainment of an EB1 visa, a distinction reserved for individuals with exceptional abilities and professional accomplishments.
Mr. Amorim's academic background has been instrumental in shaping his approach to leadership and innovation. In 2008, he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Pontifical University in Sao Paulo, Brazil and, that same year, earned credentials in financial management with a focus on international business, trade and commerce from the University of Toronto in 2008. Mr. Amorim later completed the executive leadership program in business administration and management at Harvard Business School in Boston in 2017.
Mr. Amorim's commitment extends beyond the boardroom into civic engagement and community service. He has volunteered extensively with community organizations and schools for children throughout South America and has coached young athletes aspiring toward the Olympic Games. His dedication to mentorship is further reflected in his involvement with social programs that collect life stories from industry professionals. These narratives are compiled into books distributed across colleges and universities. Additionally, Mr. Amorim is passionate about sports, particularly rowing, and was a member of the national rowing team for over 10 years, representing Team USA for 3 years, with his final world championship appearance in 2022, when he finished as the 5th-fastest rower in the world.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Amorim has received numerous accolades, including the BPO Performance and Result Award from IBM in 2009, and an O IBMista Award in 2008 and 2013. He also received a Sales Eminence Award for 2013-2014, a Hundred Percent Club Award in both 2014 and 2015, and the Best of IBM Award in 2025, all from IBM. More recently, Mr. Amorim was recognized as Director of the Year at Tech Data in 2019.
