SALINAS, CA, May 15, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donald J. Lewis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Lewis has established a distinguished career in international law, trade and policy, with a particular focus on China and the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2025, he has served as the country partner for China at GoGlobal Trade, where he leverages his extensive expertise in Chinese law, international arbitration and economic law to foster cross-border collaboration. In this capacity, Mr. Lewis draws upon a remarkable professional network developed over three decades in East and South Asia and Oceania, maintaining active collaborations with academic and professional leaders throughout the region.

In the early 2020s, Mr. Lewis contributed as a research associate at the University of San Francisco, engaging in advanced law and policy research on China's Belt and Road Initiative, geopolitics, and sustainable development, while also supporting academic initiatives that bridged North American and Asian legal systems. Concurrently, from 2021 to 2022, he was a teaching fellow at The College of Law in Australia, where he shared his knowledge of Asian international commercial and investment arbitration law with aspiring legal professionals.

From 2019-20, Mr. Lewis also served as a legal consultant for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok, advising governments on legal frameworks for digital trade and trade facilitation. During this period, he served as a foreign law expert and lecturer at the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, contributing to the education of future legal scholars in comparative investment law and regional economic integration. Between 2017 and 2020, he was an adjunct professor at the School of Management at the University of San Francisco, where he contributed to the China Business Studies Initiative (CBSI), taught on China's Belt and Road Initiative at the graduate level, and published extensively on China's BRI in the UK and Europe, including as regards China's Cyber/Digital Silk Road.

Mr. Lewis' association with Stanford Law School is notable for its breadth and impact. He was a research fellow from 2011 to 2013, following appointments as a lecturer in law between 2010 and 2011 and as a visiting associate professor of law from 2009 to 2010. At Stanford, he was recognized not only as a visiting faculty member but also as an affiliated faculty member focusing on Chinese law.

From 1986 to 2009, Mr. Lewis served as associate professor of law at The University of Hong Kong, a pivotal appointment that shaped his career trajectory. During this period, he became the first academic coordinator for the official World Trade Organization Asia-Pacific Regional Trade Policy course, training government officials from thirty-two Asia-Pacific nations in the WTO disciplines.

Mr. Lewis' consultancy with White & Case LLP in Hong Kong from 1994 to 1996 allowed him to apply his expertise in Chinese trade and investment law and dispute resolution within one of the world's leading law firms. Earlier in his career, he was selected as a Fulbright Law professor (through the Fulbright Scholar Program) where he taught in Tianjin (Nankai University) and Guangzhou (Sun Yat-sen University) from 1984 to 1986, a milestone made possible by support from prominent United States leaders managing China affairs in New York and Boston. This opportunity enabled him to represent the United States as a full-time Fulbright Law professor in China at age 30.

At the outset of his professional journey, Mr. Lewis served as a research fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu from 1983 to 1984. During this formative period, he focused on developments across the Asia-Pacific region, especially China, laying the groundwork for his long-standing engagement with international trade and comparative legal systems.

Mr. Lewis' academic background has been instrumental in shaping his distinguished career. He earned a Master of Laws from the University of London in 1981 after completing a Juris Doctor at Emory University in 1980. His undergraduate studies culminated with an Artium Baccalaureus in international relations from the University of Southern California in 1976. Among his honors are the 1976 George C. Moore Prize from the University of Southern California and recognition as a grantee by the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Lewis attributes his success to steadfast dedication fueled by a deep passion for China, East Asia and international affairs, rooted partly in his upbringing in a British environment and the abiding support of his multi-cultural family. He remains grateful for the support received throughout his journey from mentors and colleagues alike.

Born in Los Angeles, and raised in Palos Verdes Estates, Mr. Lewis enjoys hiking, sightseeing and visiting national parks or wilderness areas during his personal time. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, both spoken and written, he continues to build bridges between cultures through education, legal exchanges and foreign policy initiatives, including those related to the Belt and Road Initiative.

Looking ahead, Mr. Lewis aims to enhance relations between the United States and China through educational programs, legal exchanges and contributions to foreign policy dialogue — including efforts related to global governance reform with partners across East and South Asia and Oceania— to develop mutually beneficial futures for all peoples and nations.
