TRUMBULL, CT, May 19, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Randy Schulman has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Schulman has established a distinguished career in optometry, marked by innovation, leadership and a commitment to advancing the field of vision care. Since 2013, she has served as the sole owner and integrative optometrist at EyeCare Associates, PC, a primary care family practice with six locations throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester and Putnam Counties, New York. In this capacity, Dr. Schulman and her team of residency trained doctors provide comprehensive services, including routine eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and the management of ocular diseases such as glaucoma. Her practice is particularly recognized for its focus on pediatrics, vision rehabilitation and vision therapy. As an integrative optometrist, Dr. Schulman emphasizes the behavioral aspects of vision and approaches patient care holistically—examining not only the eyes but also related systems to identify concerns that may extend beyond traditional vision issues.
Dr. Schulman's approach is deeply collaborative; she works closely with other healthcare practitioners and employs a multisensory methodology that addresses posture, balance, auditory-visual integration, movement patterns, cognition, attention and the autonomic nervous system. She frequently refers patients to integrative medicine doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists and occupational therapists to ensure comprehensive care. Under her leadership, EyeCare Associates has grown to include a team of 10 doctors and regularly hosts three to five students from six different schools and she offers a residency program affiliated with the State University of New York College of Optometry—making it the only private practice vision therapy site partnered with this esteemed institution. Dr. Schulman takes particular pride in this residency program and remains actively involved by working at three of her six locations each week.
From 2003 to 2013, Dr. Schulman served as a behavioral optometrist at the Total Learning and Therapy Center. During this decade-long tenure, she honed her expertise in vision therapy and rehabilitation while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address complex visual and learning challenges in children and adults.
Before that role, Dr. Schulman was director of the Center for Integrated Vision from 1995 to 2013. In this position, she developed innovative programs that integrated vision care with broader therapeutic modalities—laying the groundwork for her later work in integrative optometry.
Throughout her career, Dr. Schulman has been an active member of several professional organizations. She is a fellow of the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association, an associate member of the Optometric Extension Program Foundation and a member of The Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association International.
Dr. Schulman's academic background has been instrumental in shaping her career trajectory. She earned a Doctor of Optometry degree and a master's degree in vision science with a concentration in physiological optics from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 1991. Her undergraduate studies culminated in a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated cum laude in 1987. These academic achievements provided her with a strong foundation in both clinical practice and research methodologies.
Her passion for optometry was ignited early; as a teenager she worked for three different types of doctors, one of whom did vision therapy and was a formative experience that solidified her desire to pursue a career in this field. Dr. Schulman credits her success to exceptional mentors throughout her education and career as well as the rigorous training she received at SUNY College of Optometry.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Schulman is dedicated to advancing knowledge within her profession through research and publication. She has authored two books on vision therapy that serve as training manuals for therapists and contributed chapters to two additional books; she is currently writing another chapter for an upcoming publication. Her research interests include myopia control and syntonic phototherapy, exploring how color frequencies can promote healing in the visual system.
Dr. Schulman's commitment to service extends into civic engagement and professional development initiatives. She served as an advisor for B'nai B'rith Youth Organization on and off through the years since 1991 and lectures for the Optometric Extension Program Foundation. She holds leadership roles as a board member at the College of Syntonic Optometry. Additionally, she supports a nonprofit organization with Denny Johnson focusing on exploring health within nature's cycles and seasons; together they organize spiritual retreats aimed at promoting holistic healing. Dr. Schulman also leads a women's group dedicated to empowerment and wellness. Peers has recognized her contributions through honors such as the Charles C. Butts Award for Distinguished Service from the College of Syntonic Optometry.
On a personal level, Dr. Schulman is a proud mother to three adult children—a lawyer, an accountant, and a soon to be physician assistant—all of whom have gained experience working within her practice over the years.
Looking ahead, Dr. Schulman aims to recruit new doctors interested in leadership roles within EyeCare Associates while continuing her efforts in writing and teaching on an international scale. She remains committed to raising awareness of vision therapy and rehabilitation, as well as promoting lifelong health and wellness practices through educational summits with fellow practitioners—emphasizing simple habits such as exposure to natural sunlight, hydration, exercise, and adequate rest for optimal visual and overall health.
Dr. Schulman's enduring dedication to patient-centered care, education and professional collaboration continues to shape the future of integrative optometry both locally and beyond.
