From 2015 to 2024, Mr. Martin was the founder and managing partner of David X Martin LLC in New York City, a management consulting firm specializing in cyber risk management, where he offered advisory services to senior management and boards of financial services firms and central banks. His expertise was sought by organizations such as BlackRock and the U.S. Department of State's Sanctions Subcommittee, where he served as an advisory committee member between 2012 and 2022. During this period, Mr. Martin also contributed as a senior advisory board member at Oliver Wyman from 2012 to 2014.

Mr. Martin's tenure at AllianceBernstein L.P. marked a significant chapter in his career. From 2001 to 2009, he was the chief risk officer and senior vice president, guiding the firm through periods of regulatory scrutiny and industry transformation. At Citi, he held several key positions, including Enterprise Risk Manager from 1990 to 1998 and Managing Director until 1999. Mr. Martin's pioneering work at Citicorp included establishing the first enterprise risk function and developing the Windows on Risk system, a milestone that established him as Head of Enterprise Risk for all of Citicorp.

Mr. Martin began at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he transitioned from accounting to information technology and operational consulting. There, he contributed to high-profile litigation support projects, such as financial analysis for the U.S. Department of Justice's case against IBM.

Mr. Martin's academic contributions are equally distinguished. Since 2011, he has served as an adjunct professor at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. He attended Staten Island Community College for one year before transferring to Baruch College in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in two years.
