CHATHAM, NJ, May 22, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Deborah Nelson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Nelson has established herself as a leading authority in family law, with a distinguished career spanning 35 years. Since 2019, she has served as a member at CSG Law, where she manages her own caseload and mentors younger attorneys. Her practice encompasses divorce proceedings, premarital agreements, adoptions and guardianships. Prior to joining CSG Law, Ms. Nelson held a long tenure as a shareholder and attorney at Budd Larner P.C. from 1997 to 2019.

Ms. Nelson is recognized for her ability to navigate complex and emotionally charged cases, most notably achieving a significant legal victory in Bergen County. In this case, she represented a father whose children had been taken to Korea—a non-Hague country—by their mother. Through her dedicated advocacy, Ms. Nelson secured the children's return to the United States and full custody for her client, profoundly impacting the lives of the children involved.

Ms. Nelson's professional influence extends beyond her primary roles. She has contributed as a mock trial competition judge for the Vincent J. Apruzzese High School and served as a trustee for Morris County Legal Aid, supporting access to justice for underserved populations. As vice president of the Morristown Club Board of Governors, she has also demonstrated leadership within the local legal community. Her commitment to advancing standards in mediation and dispute resolution is evident through her involvement with the Supreme Court's Committee on Mediator Standards, Committee on Women in the Court and Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution.

Furthermore, Ms. Nelson's dedication to professional development is reflected in her active membership in several industry organizations. She is a former president and trustee of the Morris County Bar Association, where she also chaired the Continuing Legal Education Committee, and has held leadership roles within the New Jersey State Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section and Special Committee on Dispute Resolution, including serving as vice-chair. Additionally, she is affiliated with the American Bar Association and holds master status with both the Worrall F. Mountain Inn of Court and the Marie L. Garibaldi American Inn of Court for Alternate Dispute Resolution.

Academically, Ms. Nelson's background laid a strong foundation for her legal career. She earned a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1985, following her undergraduate studies at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1972. She further specialized by obtaining a divorce mediation certification from Rutgers University. She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and before the United States Supreme Court.

The trajectory of Ms. Nelson's career was shaped by an early aspiration to join the priesthood—a path not available to women in her denomination at that time—which led her instead into human resources at Lord & Taylor. There, exposure to labor law inspired her pursuit of legal studies while raising her son. Although initially focused on labor law, she found her calling in family law during her early years of practice.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Nelson attributes much of her success to her strong faith and spiritual upbringing, guided by the example set by her late father, Ralph—a respected certified public accountant known for his ethical standards and active church involvement—and reinforced by supportive relationships with her siblings, including her brother Tom, an ordained Episcopal deacon.

Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Nelson has demonstrated civic commitment through board service with Susan G. Komen North Jersey and volunteer work with the Community Food Bank in Newark. She also contributed as chairperson for the District X Fee Arbitration Foundation.

Her achievements have been recognized with numerous honors, particularly as a recipient of the Morris County Bar Association Women Pioneers in the Law Award in 2019. She was also selected to the New Jersey Super Lawyers list for family law, received a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating and was included among Best Lawyers in Essex County.

In her personal life, Ms. Nelson enjoys playing piano, training her dog and caring for her pets outside of work. She remains dedicated to serving others during vulnerable times in their lives and strives to use both her skills and faith to make a meaningful difference within her community and profession.
