TAMPA, FL, June 02, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tatiana Mesa Pajan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Mesa Pajan has established herself as a leading figure in the field of art and academia, recognized for her expertise in collecting gestures that define humanity beyond identity. Since 2024, she has served as a full-time visiting professor and art professor in the printmaking department at her alma mater, the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa. In this capacity, she teaches art and printmaking, instructing students in techniques such as engraving, etching, laser engraving, monotype, cyanotype and screen-printing processes to undergraduate college students while ensuring continuity within the academic program. Ms. Mesa Pajan also manages departmental curriculum development and implementation, oversees operations and administration, and maintains academic coordination for the department.

She first joined the USF faculty immediately after graduation in 2022 and previously served as a teaching assistant during her MFA program beginning in 2019. She also taught expanded printmaking in 2023. Ms. Mesa Pajan served as an adjunct professor in architecture, contributing to interdisciplinary education by integrating artistic concepts into architectural studies. Prior to her appointment at USF, she worked as an adjunct professor of art at Hillsborough Community College, where she taught drawing and general art courses to a diverse student body in Tampa from 2022 to 2023.

Earlier, she worked as an art instructor with Prodigy at the University Area Community Development Corporation Inc., where she managed risk assessment and directed prevention programs through educational classes. She taught at 12 sites across South Florida in community-based programs serving individuals of all ages and backgrounds. This role strengthened her ability to teach diverse communities using multiple instructional approaches.

Initially, from 2004 to 2013, Ms. Mesa Pajan was a fine art teacher at Academia de Bellas Artes San Alejandro in her home country, Havana. Despite experiencing significant professional setbacks following her move from Havana, she persevered and rebuilt her career within nearly a decade.

Highly educated, Ms. Mesa Pajan received an Associate of Arts in Fine Studio Arts from Academia de Bellas Artes San Alejandro (1999), a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Studio Arts from the Universidad de las Artes de Cuba (2004), and a Master of Arts in Fine Studio Arts from the University of South Florida (2022).

Ms. Mesa Pajan's civic engagement includes donating artwork to art spaces and contributing works to HaloArt in Sarasota, Florida. She actively participates in artist-run galleries and spaces in the United States and internationally, supporting collaborative creative communities.

As of 2026, Ms. Mesa Pajan's artistic achievements have been highlighted by her inclusion in three museum collections: The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Florida, The Artist Book Museum in Lithuania, and Rollins College Cornell Fine Arts Museum. She has remained active in museum exhibitions over the past two years while reestablishing her art career following her immigration. This includes participation in Skyway at Sarasota Art Museum; Nuestro Vaivén (Our Sway) at The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota; the 10th International Artist's Book Triennial Vilnius 2024; and Echoes of The Ancient at the Orlando Museum of Art. Her newer art commission was completed this year by OXH Gallery in Tampa, FL.

Her recent projects include the solo exhibition Archaeology of the Present at HC Art Galleries in Tampa; participation in MÍO/MINE at Dunedin Fine Art Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida; involvement in El Bosque during Archival Bootcamp at Masia La Toba in Valencia, Spain; and bi-personal exhibitions such as Absence with Logan Wolfe at the Carolyn M. Wilson Gallery and Malecón… with Logan Wolfe at The Box at USF. She also participated in INK Miami Art Fair 2025, Suites of Dorchester, Miami Beach Art Basel week with Tempus Project, Reverb, Parallelogram Gallery, and USF.

She is the author of the book The Text as Vestige, as well as artist book installations such as Book: Gesture Memory II, presented at the Poetry International Festival at the House of Poetry in Havana, and Book: Gesture Memory I, exhibited at the José Antonio Díaz Peláez Gallery at the Fine Art Academy of San Alejandro.

In recognition of her work, Ms. Mesa Pajan has received several awards, including being named among the Emerging Artists to Watch for 2026 by Creative Loafing Tampa. She also received First Prize for Best in Show at the Annual Juried Members Exhibition at HCC Art Galleries in Tampa; the Antonia Eiríz Grand Prize from the Hermanos Saíz Association in Havana; and the First Grand Prize of Creation-21 Studio from the Center for Development of Visual Arts in Havana. She has also received a microgrant from the Gobioff Foundation and fellowship awards from the Halo Arts Project.

She attributes her professional progress to opportunities available in the United States, as well as sustained effort, persistence, and continued learning, which enabled her transition from entry-level roles to a full-time position as a university professor.

Recently, she acquired her first printing press and plans to develop an editorial project titled Madurez y Utopía, focused on publishing books with global perspectives on what it means to be human. The project is intended to include participants beyond artists and to develop into a printmaking studio as part of her long-term goals. Among planned publications is The Writing of the Glimpse, which explores questions of humanity.

She also intends to continue teaching at the university level, with an emphasis on fostering critical thinking and independent analysis. Throughout her career, by advocating for herself, she aimed to promote independent creative spaces for artists facing limited access to international markets and other structural challenges related to the Cuban exile experience. Ms. Mesa Pajan believes that artists must have freedom within their own spaces, a principle that guides both her teaching philosophy and artistic practice. She hopes that others facing similar obstacles can benefit from her experiences as they pursue their own creative paths.
