MESQUITE, NM, June 10, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lisa Martina Dominguez has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Marked by nearly three decades of experience, Ms. Dominguez has distinguished herself as an accomplished educational leader. She most recently served as assistant principal of Mesa Middle School in Las Cruces Public Schools from 2021 to 2026, during which she made a lasting impact through her expertise in data-driven instructional leadership. With a focus on providing equitable access to instruction while complying with special education requirements, she spearheaded the implementation of individualized education programs, 504 plans and meaningful 90-day plans that were tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Implementing a tutoring program outside the master schedule that provided targeted support, Ms. Dominguez led efforts to utilize educational assistants and permanent substitutes to ensure that all students received exposure to grade-level content. This initiative contributed to Mesa Middle School moving out of Additional Targeted Support and Improvement status and achieving the coveted "green" designation for the 2024 to 2025 academic year in New Mexico.
Prior to her tenure at Mesa Middle School, Ms. Dominguez served as assistant principal of Vista Middle School from 2016 to 2021 under the leadership of Mike Brewer. During this period, she continued her commitment to instructional alignment, bilingual education, family engagement and professional learning communities, reinforcing a cohesive vision for student achievement. From 2014 to 2016, she was a bilingual teacher at Alameda Elementary within Las Cruces Public Schools, where she further honed her skills in classroom instruction and data analysis.
Ms. Dominguez started her administrative career in Gadsden Independent School District in Anthony, New Mexico, where she served as assistant principal of Chaparral Elementary School during the 2013 to 2014 academic year. Before this appointment, she spent two years as an administrative intern/assistant principal at Vado Elementary School from 2011 to 2013. During this time, she found deep meaning in supporting students at a newly opened campus and valued the proximity that allowed her to balance professional responsibilities with caring for her infant son.
Ms. Dominguez's teaching journey began at Vado Elementary, where she taught from 2006 to 2011 after transferring from La Mesa Elementary from 2004 to 2006 due to a district reorganization. She taught at Riverside Elementary from 2000 to 2004, establishing herself as a dedicated bilingual educator committed to multilingual instruction and student empowerment. Her innovative approach included leading a dual language academy in the Las Cruces Public School District — one of only two such programs in the district — where eighth-grade students earned their bilingual seal before entering high school.
Before entering the educational realm, Ms. Dominguez served as a caseworker for the New Mexico Human Services Department in Anthony from 1996 to 2000, managing a caseload of approximately 500 adults and overseeing the distribution of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits. She began her professional journey as a grant technician and grant writer for Doña Ana County in 1995, collaborating with the Southern New Mexico Prevention Coalition within the driving while intoxicated/drug court system under the supervision of renowned psychologist Dr. Mark Whitehead.
Throughout every stage of her career, Ms. Dominguez has been recognized for her contributions to academia and devotion to student success. She is a three-time recipient of the Academic Achievement Award — based on outstanding student performance and progress over consecutive years in Gadsden Independent School District — and has received recognition from The Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Ms. Dominguez earned a Master of Arts in Bilingual and biliteracy education in 2007 after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Government, Law and Society with a minor in Criminal Justice in 1995, both from New Mexico State University. She also pursued postgraduate studies in Educational Management and Development at New Mexico State and completed coursework through Eastern New Mexico University that led to her bilingual endorsement.
Dedicated to the ideals of lifelong learning, Ms. Dominguez has furthered her credentials by obtaining several certifications over the years. She earned the principal and leadership license and is certified in teaching core subjects, technology applications and instruction in Spanish, all by the Texas Education Agency. Furthermore, she was certified in Bilingual education. Ms. Dominguez has also earned her certificate from the National Principal Leadership Academy at the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, where she continues to serve as an active member.
Reflecting on her storied journey thus far, Ms. Dominguez credits much of her career advancement to the exceptional mentorship she received from colleagues and administrators who recognized her talent for data-driven instruction early on. Four years into her teaching career, she was encouraged by her principal to solidify her focus on tracking student progress — a practice that soon became a central facet of her administrative journey.
Ms. Dominguez's personal life is rooted in strong family ties and regional heritage. Born in Casa Grande, Arizona, she grew up primarily in Northern California before returning with her family to southern New Mexico in 1984. She attended Las Cruces Public Schools before transferring to Gadsden schools, later choosing to raise her own children in the area due to its growth and vibrant community.
Happily married since for more than 30 years and a proud mother, Ms. Dominguez enjoys reading daily, maintains an avid appreciation for music and prioritizes fitness by tracking up to 10,000 steps each day alongside an at-home workout routine. She also cherishes traveling with her family across different metropolitan areas.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Dominguez intends to share her extensive educational expertise within another school district that aligns with her dedication to supporting students and teachers. With valid Texas credentials, including her teaching certificates and administrative licenses, she has applied for positions in El Paso but also seeks opportunities further south in San Antonio where she has established connections.
Ms. Dominguez's life and legacy are defined by her unwavering belief that every individual can learn and contribute uniquely when they receive the ideal direction and support — a conviction that continues to guide her work as an educator and leader committed to advancing equity and excellence across every community in which she serves.
