She is a Veteran Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Specialist and Award Winner.

With more than 32 years of professional experience, Ms. Paul excels in cardiac surgery intensive care nursing and overseeing the open-heart recovery unit of the hospital as charge nurse for her shift. Prior to joining Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Ms. Paul worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse and chief nurse in the surgical intensive care unit at the Medical University of South Carolina for six years. She also worked at the Beaufort County Hospital for four years. Ms. Paul became involved in her profession because of her interest in medicine and the inspiration she received from her father. She considers serving on the board of directors for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing Alumni Association to be the highlight of her career and attributes her success to her dedication to the nursing profession.

A registered critical-care nurse (CCRN), Ms. Paul received certification in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is affiliated with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and is a member of the board of the School of Nursing Foundation, Inc. of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing. Ms. Paul received the Divisional Nurse of the Year Award in 1996 and stays current with the trends in her profession by reading Nursing magazine and other nursing journals as well as attending critical care nursing seminars.
