After spending nearly two decades building a successful career in the insurance industry, I entered a season of unexpected transition. Relationships I once trusted changed. Professional opportunities shifted. Individuals I considered mentors, friends, and colleagues became part of lessons that tested my character, resilience, and faith.

While those experiences were painful at times, they ultimately forced me to grow beyond dependence on corporate structures and external validation. I learned that titles can be temporary, organizations can change, and people can disappoint you, but your integrity, work ethic, and faith remain your foundation.

Rather than allowing setbacks to define me, I chose to build. During this season, I founded Merchant Adjusting, expanded my expertise across multiple facets of the claims industry, developed new business partnerships, mentored emerging adjusters, and continued serving clients with professionalism and excellence.

Most importantly, I gained clarity. I learned the difference between influence and leadership, between popularity and respect, and between those who walk with you for a season and those who stand beside you through adversity.

Looking back, I do not view these years as years of loss. I view them as years of refinement. The challenges strengthened my resolve, deepened my faith, and prepared me for opportunities that I could not have seen while remaining comfortable.

Every setback became preparation. Every disappointment became instruction. Every closed door pushed me toward becoming the man, leader, father, and business owner I am continuing to become today.

Mr. Merchant has established a distinguished career in the insurance and claims industry, marked by more than two decades of progressive responsibility and expertise. Since 2023, he has served as the owner of Merchant Adjusting, where he manages accounting tasks, reviews financial records through QuickBooks, performs administrative duties and schedules inspections.

In addition to these executive duties, Mr. Merchant's responsibilities also include coordinating and setting up field inspections with clients and carriers, conducting on-site property inspections and assessments, writing detailed inspection and claims reports, submitting documentation to insurance carriers for payment processing and overseeing day-to-day business operations across multiple functions. In this capacity, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and organizational skills, drawing upon his extensive background in property claims and business management.

From 2019 to 2023, Mr. Merchant worked as a senior property adjuster at Secura Insurance Companies. During this period, he specialized in farm and ranch liability and property claims, further honing his proficiency with Xactimate software for estimating purposes. He became the primary resource for training new team members on this platform and played a pivotal role in onboarding staff while supporting his unit manager as needed.

Mr. Merchant's earlier tenure at The Hanover Insurance Group from 2015 to 2019 focused on farm and ranch liability property claims. Before that, he spent nearly a decade at The Travelers Indemnity Company from 2007 to 2015, where he gained valuable experience in workers' compensation and property, before joining the catastrophe team.

As a catastrophe adjuster, Mr. Merchant traveled extensively across the United States, often responding to challenging environments ranging from urban centers like New York City to economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Throughout these assignments, he consistently demonstrated resilience and adaptability, qualities that enabled him to provide excellent customer service under pressure while managing chaos with composure.

Mr. Merchant began his insurance career with Safeco Insurance, now Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where he worked for four years starting in 2003. His early exposure to the industry laid the foundation for his subsequent achievements in claims management and leadership.
Complementing his civilian career, Mr. Merchant served in the United States Air Force from 2005 to 2011. This military experience instilled discipline and a strong sense of duty that have informed his professional approach throughout his career.

Mr. Merchant's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in computer and information sciences and support services from Fairmont State University, earned in 2003. He also completed basic and technical school training with the United States Air Force in 2013. These educational accomplishments provided him with analytical skills and technical knowledge that have been instrumental in navigating complex claims processes and adopting new technologies within the insurance sector.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Merchant attributes much of his success to an unwavering faith that has guided him through industry challenges and moments of adversity. Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Merchant is deeply committed to civic engagement and youth development. He has served as a youth minister with various ministries in Indianapolis, as well as a deacon and deacon chairman at his church. He is also highly active in youth sports, having spent three years coaching seventh- and eighth-grade football at Franklin Central Junior High School. Additionally, he has coached local Little League baseball, T-ball, soccer, and track and field teams.

Throughout his career, Mr. Merchant's dedication has been recognized through several honors. These include military awards, service medals, an excellence award from his church and coach of the year accolades.

Born in Fairmont, Mr. Merchant is a devoted father of three children who enjoys practicing self-care through fishing, jogging, walking and camping during his personal time. Recently entering into a partnership with two other professionals, each bringing strong Christian values and military backgrounds, Mr. Merchant has acquired stakes in several franchises across eight offices throughout the Midwest. Together, they aim to operate these offices collaboratively while cultivating skilled adjusters and fostering positive change within the industry.
