Ms. Wallen currently serves as senior director of risk and compliance at Omaha Steaks, a position she has held since 2025. In this capacity, she leads the company's enterprise risk program, focusing on aligning risk management with Omaha Steaks' strategic vision and growth objectives. Her expertise in progressive risk leadership is evident in her approach to fostering a positive mindset within teams, encouraging individuals to recognize their capabilities and embrace challenges. Ms. Wallen's philosophy—"I can do hard things"—guides her leadership style, emphasizing trust, positive intent and the belief that every team member contributes for a reason. In Omaha, her team addresses food insecurity by supporting local food banks through donations and volunteer work.
Before joining Omaha Steaks, Ms. Wallen was vice president of risk management and assurance services at Teradata from 2022 to 2025. During her tenure, she was instrumental in developing robust risk frameworks and assurance processes that supported the organization's strategic transformation and global operations. Her leadership extended beyond professional responsibilities; she actively participated in Teradata Cares and the Women of Teradata, where she and her colleagues volunteered to build robotic hands for individuals in Africa, assemble furniture for child care centers, construct bicycles in various cities and mentor emerging women leaders.
From 2021 to 2022, Ms. Wallen served as chief risk officer at CSG, where she oversaw the company's comprehensive risk strategy. She also held concurrent roles as vice president of internal audit and risk management from 2019 to 2022 and global head of internal audit from 2017 to 2022. Her tenure at CSG began in 2005 as executive director of internal audit, a role she maintained until 2022 while also serving as internal audit director from 2005 to 2010. Over her 17 years at CSG, Mrs. Wallen implemented the company's first internal audit program and established its foundational risk program—milestones that significantly enhanced CSG's governance structure. Her efforts earned her the Game Changer Award twice at CSG, first in 2005 and again in 2018.
Ms. Wallen's commitment to community service was deeply integrated into her time at CSG. She dedicated nearly half of her tenure to Habitat for Humanity projects in Omaha, helping build homes for families in need. In addition, Ms. Wallen contributed the Employee Belonging through WE LEaD, Women Engaged in Leadership, Education and Development as a member and then as a senior leadership program advisor and sponsor.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Wallen served as an internal audit project manager at Protiviti from 2004 to 2005, managing key audit initiatives for clients across multiple industries. She also held an overlapping role as internal auditor at PayPal from 2001 to 2003, supporting the organization's transition into a leading online payment platform.
Ms. Wallen began her professional journey as a supervising senior accountant at KPMG LLP from 1997 to 2001. In this capacity, she developed a strong foundation in accounting principles and auditing standards that would inform her later achievements in risk management.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc., and the Institute of Internal Auditors, reflecting her ongoing commitment to industry best practices and continuous learning.
Ms. Wallen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1996. She attributes much of her success to a personal philosophy centered on incremental improvement—striving each day to be one percent better than the day before—a mindset that has propelled her sustained progress throughout nearly three decades in her field.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Wallen is recognized for her civic engagement as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and for her ongoing support of local food banks through corporate programs. Her dedication to service underscores a broader commitment to uplifting communities both locally and globally.
In her personal life, Ms. Wallen enjoys spending time with her son and at the Pilates studio, which helps her maintain balance and focus amid a demanding career. Looking ahead, she remains committed to expanding her professional network, advancing enterprise risk initiatives at Omaha Steaks and continuing meaningful volunteer work through both corporate channels and community organizations. She is also passionate about enriching women's networks and maintaining wellness through Pilates.
Ms. Wallen's journey from overcoming significant personal adversity—including surviving childhood molestation, growing up with an alcoholic parent, experiencing divorce and enduring domestic violence—to becoming a leader who inspires hope and resilience stands as a testament to her strength and determination. Her story highlights the transformative power of mentorship—a theme she has championed throughout her career by both seeking guidance from role models and serving as a mentor herself. Through public speaking engagements, such as her virtual conference talk in Omaha in 2023, attended by approximately 1,500 professionals, Ms. Wallen continues to encourage others to build supportive networks that foster growth across all areas of life.
