STATEN ISLAND, NY, June 15, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Troy A. Welch has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Welch has established a distinguished career in graphic design, currently serving as a graphic designer and brand coordinator at the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation since 2022. In this capacity, he prioritizes tasks, designs flyers and social media content, updates the organization's website and helps distribute the weekly newsletter. He is responsible for creating signage for major events such as the SIEDC Annual Business Conference, Forum for a Sustainable Future, economic development initiatives, and the SIEDC Annual Awards Gala, ensuring consistent branding throughout. Mr. Welch collaborates closely with multiple departments, develops logos and event branding, manages general organizational appearance and develops new idea for SIEDC visuals. His expertise in logo design, minimalist design and illustration has set him apart in his field, earning him recognition for his creative vision and technical skill.
A significant milestone in Mr. Welch's professional journey was his nomination and inclusion in the City & State New York Black Trailblazers List in February 2026. This honor recognized his outstanding contributions to design at SIEDC and stands as his proudest achievement to date.
Mr. Welch's educational path reflects both perseverance and adaptability. He graduated from Ralph R. McKee Career & Technical Education High School in 2010 majoring in Graphic Design, where he received the Robert and Carmine DeSantis Scholarship, a leadership award, a community service award, and an art award, in recognition of his academic performance and civic engagement. After high school, he was accepted into SUNY Canton where he only spent 1 semester before medically withdrawing due to a serious injury. After his recovery, he attended the Art Institute in New York but found it financially challenging while balancing two jobs. He then enrolled at the College of Staten Island but ultimately sought a more specialized program in graphic design. Mr. Welch finally found his academic home at Kingsborough Community College, City University of New York, where he earned an Associate of Science in Graphic Design with honors in 2020.
In addition to his degree, Mr. Welch holds a certification in user experience/user interface design as well as several Udemy course certificates further enhancing his capabilities as a designer. He attributes his ongoing success to an unwavering commitment to learning; he dedicates time daily to expanding his knowledge of marketing, design and social media trends. This dedication to continuous improvement has been instrumental in advancing his career.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Welch is civically engaged within his community. He has provided pro bono photography services for a charter school in Staten Island and taught an introductory graphic design course at Sunset Park Recreation Center, sharing his expertise with others. He also interned at Relix Media in Manhattan as a Graphic Designer and at his alma mater, Kingsborough Community College, as a Graphic Designer in the communications department, creating flyers that were posted around the school and graphics for the school website.
Born in Manhattan, Mr. Welch maintains a passion for fitness—running and going to the gym five days each week—as well as for drawing, writing comics and reading graphic novels. He has created illustrations featuring athletes such as Simone Biles, Kobe Bryant, and Christian Coleman and is considering focusing more on sports illustrations/designs to reconnect with his love for sports and showcase his artistic skills to a broader audience.
Throughout his journey from humble beginnings to professional recognition, Mr. Welch credits much of his drive to his mother's encouragement, who instilled in him the importance of education and perseverance. His story exemplifies tenacity—overcoming obstacles through patience, hard work, and an enduring commitment to personal growth—and continues to inspire those around him as he pursues new creative goals in graphic design.
