EAU CLAIRE, WI, June 16, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson William Daniel has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Daniel's distinguished career in environmental stewardship and water resource management is marked by more than two decades of dedicated service with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. From 1989 to 2013, he served as a drinking water and groundwater specialist, where his expertise in water well construction and high groundwater hydrogeology was instrumental in safeguarding public health and environmental quality across Wisconsin. In this capacity, he conducted field and compliance inspections for drinking water and groundwater systems, meticulously inspecting water well construction and identifying wells requiring abandonment. He played a pivotal role in licensing and regulating well drillers and pump installers, as well as evaluating both residential and public water systems, including taverns, churches, restaurants, schools and trailer parks.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Daniel's most notable achievement was attaining well compliance in regions where oversight had previously been limited and many wells were in poor condition. His diligent efforts consistently spanned three counties, with additional work in several others. By focusing on the abandonment of poorly constructed wells and those posing contamination risks, he significantly improved the safety and quality of local water resources. His work extended beyond individual inspections; he frequently collaborated with groundwater contamination specialists to identify, verify and address contamination issues at numerous sites. His ability to communicate complex concepts to both well drillers and owners fostered greater understanding of well operation, groundwater movement and potential contamination concerns within the communities he served.
Concurrently to his role as a drinking water and groundwater specialist, Mr. Daniel spent one year as a wastewater discharge specialist at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources beginning in 1989. Before joining the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, he built a diverse foundation through various roles. From 1983 to 1988, he worked as a storekeeper at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison, following a year as a groundskeeper at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Daniel held a one-year position as a parking attendant and spent four months with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in 1981. From 1973 to 1977, he served as a park ranger with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, where he was responsible for protecting natural resources and ensuring visitor safety across two state parks. He also managed Walnut Woods State Park and Margo Frankel State Park in West Des Moines during this period.
Mr. Daniel's academic background laid the groundwork for his professional achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in soil science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1971. This rigorous scientific training provided him with an advanced understanding of soil properties, hydrology and environmental systems—knowledge that proved essential throughout his career in water resource management.
A sense of calling has guided Mr. Daniel since his preteen years, fueling his passion for the natural environment and driving him to share insights with others. Recognizing the scarcity of professionals specializing in groundwater protection, he embraced opportunities to communicate complex technical information clearly and decisively—a quality that has underpinned his many accomplishments.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Daniel has demonstrated an enduring commitment to civic engagement and volunteerism. Since 2013, he has volunteered as a patient transporter and dispatcher at Mayo Clinic, Eau Claire campus providing compassionate support to patients navigating healthcare facilities. He is also an active volunteer with Beaver Creek Reserve and participates regularly with environmental organizations dedicated to conservation efforts.
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Mr. Daniel is devoted to family life with his two children. He finds fulfillment rewilding his three-acre property—transforming formerly exhausted farmland into a vibrant woodland habitat featuring healthy trees, abundant wildlife and a flowing creek. His land has been certified by the National Wildlife Federation as one of 30,000 recognized wildlife habitats nationwide.
Mr. Daniel's professional contributions have been recognized through multiple nominations including for Drinking Water Western Region and Groundwater Specialist of the Year, as well as other awards acknowledging his impact on public health and environmental safety. Looking ahead, he remains committed to advancing conservation on his property while continuing active involvement with Beaver Creek Reserve and Mayo Clinic volunteer programs. His lifelong dedication ensures there will always be new projects or opportunities contributing to environmental stewardship and community well-being.
