SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY, June 24, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charleen Verena Kavleski has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Recognized for her innovative approach and longstanding dedication to the arts, Ms. Kavleski has led a prominent career of more than 40 years as a conceptual multimedia artist and sculptor. Since 2009, she has served as the owner of Albatross Antiques and Gifts in South Fallsburg, New York, where she continues to curate and present significant works while providing antiques and collectibles for customers. Her expertise in the art management sector is further distinguished by her previous tenure from 1982 to 2009 as an antiques and art dealer at Brockmann's Antique Center in Milford, where she further developed her reputation for discerning taste and commitment to artistic excellence.
From 1989 to 1999, Ms. Kavleski contributed her knowledge as an art adviser and editor for the literary and art magazine at Robert J. Kaiser Middle School within the Monticello Central School District. In this capacity, she guided young artists and writers, fostering creativity and critical engagement with the arts. She led a highly impactful educational tenure as an art teacher in the same district from 1968 to 1999, during which she inspired multiple generations of students through her passion for visual expression.
Ms. Kavleski has achieved numerous milestones throughout her award-winning career, with her personal works appearing in over 300 shows in museums and art galleries across the United States. She was featured in the Members Show at Amos Eno Gallery in 2025 and 2026 — having 17 solo exhibitions there since 1982 — and exhibited at Albany Center Gallery annually from 2007 to 2026. Her commissioned installations include projects for Christopher Coleman Interior Design in 2013, Dr. Goddard Lainjo in Middletown, New York, in 1995 and Dr. Gustav Gavis in Monticello in 1994.
Additionally, Ms. Kavleski's artwork was shown at Bau Gallery with the Beacon Arts Community Association and Catskill Artists Gallery in Liberty, New York, in 2011. Also featured extensively in the media, she garnered coverage from Sullivan County Democrat across several years and was spotlighted in Millennium Magazine, the Times Herald Record in 1997, in Temple Emanuel of Great Neck in 1997 and in the National Digest in 2025 and 2026.
Ms. Kavleski's artwork continues to be represented in prominent exhibitions such as Crosscurrents at Franklin Square Gallery in Southport, North Carolina, Shimizu America Corporation in Durham, North Carolina, the National Association of Women Artists in New York as well as in numerous private collections.
Alongside her primary roles, Ms. Kavleski maintains active memberships with leading organizations including the Amos Eno Gallery, the National Association of Women Artists, the New York State Art Teachers Association and the New York Retired Teachers Association (now NYSRTA). She is also affiliated with the Catskill Art Society (now the Catskill Art Space), the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Albany Center Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
Continuing her creative endeavors today, Ms. Kavleski has been engaged in ongoing contributions as an artist with The National Digest and with the Amos Eno Gallery in New York City. She has also participated as an artist member in over 30 annual exhibitions with the National Association of Women Artists and has been involved in group showings with Catskill Art Space as well as Albany Center Gallery.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Kavleski made an impact through solo exhibitions at the West Broadway Gallery from 1982 to 1983 and engaged in touring exhibitions such as Millennium Collection with the National Association of Women Artists. She also took part in major regional events including the Mohawk Hudson Regional Exhibition at Schenectady Museum Association in 1989, the Three Rivers Art Festival from 1986 to 1989 and the Butler Institute of American Art's 51st annual exhibition in 1987.
Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background that proved foundational to her artistic achievements, Ms. Kavleski completed graduate coursework in fine arts at State University of New York at New Paltz in 1972 after earning a Bachelor of Science from the same institution in 1967. Prior to that, she finished coursework at Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University in 1964 and obtained an Associate of Applied Science from State University of New York Orange (Orange County Community College) as well as an Associate of Arts from the same college in 1963.
Reflecting on her remarkable creative journey, Ms. Kavleski attributes her success to synthesizing early childhood quilt-making experiences from her grandmother and stone masonry from her father, all of which blended with her exposure to fine arts through college coursework and visits to museums and galleries. Her entry into the profession was catalyzed by personal commissions from Dr. Gavis and Dr. Lainjo as well as encouragement from museum curators and gallery owners who selected her work for juried exhibitions. Another key influence on her art was the popular conceptual artist Sol LeWitt, whose approach to language-based wall drawings and systemic sculpture significantly impacted her perspective during the pivotal social movements of the 1970s.
Ms. Kavleski's outstanding contributions to the fine arts and art education have seen her honored with numerous accolades over the years. She was recognized at the Members Show at Amos Eno Gallery in 2025 and 2026 and received honors from the National Association of Women Artists in both 2024 and 2025 for her 33- and 34-year membership in their catalog. Furthermore, she was presented with the Miriam E. Halpern Memorial Award during the 105th Annual Exhibition and has been selected for inclusion in Who's Who in American Art by Marquis Who's Who on multiple occasions since 1994.
During the earlier stages of her art career, Ms. Kavleski was awarded first place for installation at the Nepenthe Mundi Emerald City Classic in 1987, achieved finalist distinction among 300 artists selected from 3,000 candidates for the Museum Tour Finalist Award during the Los Angeles Art Quest Video Exhibit in 1985, was recognized by the Mondak Art Society in 1984 and was presented with a graphics award from the New York State Art Teachers Association in 1982.
Outside of her artistic and civic endeavors, Ms. Kavleski was happily married to her husband Michael for many years and continues to enjoy collecting antiques and collectibles as well as drawing inspiration from dance, which influences suites within her impactful body of artwork.
