As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Naegele has distinguished herself as a pioneering attorney and partner at Gary, Naegele & Theado LLC in Lorain, Ohio, where she has practiced since 1982. Over the course of four-plus decades, she has become recognized for her expertise in plaintiffs' class action litigation as well as wrongful discrimination and sexual harassment cases.
As one of the founding partners, Ms. Naegele played a pivotal role in building the firm's reputation for handling high-stakes class actions while maintaining a dedicated practice representing individuals facing workplace injustices. Her commitment to championing plaintiffs against large corporate entities resulted in multiple major victories, reflecting her unwavering dedication to cases she believed in.
Throughout her tenure at Gary, Naegele & Theado LLC, Ms. Naegele also demonstrated leadership within the legal community. Around 1990, she served as president of the Lorain County Bar Association, where she orchestrated a historic achievement by bringing the Ohio Supreme Court to Lorain County to hear cases locally, a milestone that included educational sessions for lawyers and students and fostered engagement between attorneys and young observers.
Ms. Naegele further contributed to the profession as a member of the Grievance and Ethics Committee of the Lorain County Bar Association and as a founding member of the Ohio Women's Bar Association. She also participated on the Task Force on Gender Fairness for the Ohio Supreme Court.
Prior to her partnership, Ms. Naegele began her legal career as a staff attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, Lorain County Office, serving from 1980 to 1982. In this capacity, she provided critical legal services to underserved populations, laying the foundation for her lifelong advocacy on behalf of those facing systemic barriers.
Ms. Naegele's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati in 1976. She went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1979. Her education provided a strong grounding in both social systems and legal principles, equipping her with analytical skills and empathy that have been instrumental throughout her career.
Reflecting on her career, Ms. Naegele attributes her professional success to her natural ability to bring people together, listen attentively and understand others intuitively — qualities that made her an effective mediator and advocate. Her detail-oriented approach and respect for diverse perspectives have consistently informed her work.
Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Naegele has demonstrated deep civic engagement. She has served on the board of directors for Leadership Lorain County, contributing to community leadership development initiatives. As past president of the board of directors at Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue, she supported religious and cultural programming within her community. Born in Cleveland, Ms. Naegele met her husband Richard Naegele while attending law school; they graduated together and married after completing their studies and passing the bar examination. Mr. Naegele is a practicing pension attorney who has taught numerous seminars and is currently winding down his practice. Together they have two children.
