LAKEWOOD, CO, June 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Ruby Gibson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Gibson has distinguished herself as a leading expert in historical trauma recovery, most notably through her pioneering work in the development of Somatic Archaeology©. Since 1996, she has served as the developer and trainer of this innovative therapeutic approach, which integrates mindfulness and body-based practices to address generational trauma. Her dedication to this field culminated in the publication of "My Body, My Earth: The Practice of Somatic Archaeology" in 1996, a foundational text that has since been translated into Romanian and Spanish. Her commitment to advancing trauma recovery is further reflected in the creation of "My Body, My Breath Card Deck, a Tool for Transformation," designed to help individuals apply Somatic Archaeology© skills in their daily lives.
Concurrently, Dr. Gibson holds the position of executive director at Freedom Lodge, a nonprofit organization located near Denver, Colorado. Since 2010, she has overseen the organization's operations, including grant writing, event preparation, financial management as chief financial officer, employee oversight and board communication. She leads annual 200-hour training programs in Somatic Archaeology© and conducts individual client sessions while managing multiple schedules each week. Under her leadership, Freedom Lodge has received grants supporting Native American communities for more than a decade. She plays a pivotal role in driving the organization's ideas, projects and publications while ensuring legal compliance and fostering support for tribal communities.
Dr. Gibson's expertise extends internationally as an accomplished trainer who has conducted workshops in Romania, Spain, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada and Mexico. She is frequently invited as a keynote speaker on historical trauma recovery, particularly addressing generational trauma experienced by Native Americans and other colonized populations. She approaches this work through a 14-generation lens with the goal of preventing the transmission of trauma to future generations. Prior to her current roles, she served as the director of the Colorado School of Healing Arts for seven years.
Educationally, Dr. Gibson's achievements have played a crucial role in shaping her career trajectory. She earned her doctorate in theology and psychology from Holos University in Missouri in 2012 after completing her master's degree at the same institution in 2010. Her doctoral dissertation was based on her book "My Body, My Earth," underscoring the integration of her scholarly pursuits with her practical work in trauma recovery and counseling. She is also a certified massage therapist and maintains membership with the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Gibson is actively engaged with civic-minded organizations. She serves as executive director of Freedom Lodge and works with Well-being and Equity in the World as well as the Indigenous Environmental Network. Her advocacy includes work on Indigenous women's maternal health and maternal mortality initiatives.
Reflecting on her career, Dr. Gibson attributes much of her success to her spiritual journey and the influence of her caring mother Gloria, whose guidance inspired her dedication to service and healing. As an author and creative contributor, her publications include "Khonmadi: The Heartbeat of Mother Earth," scheduled for release in 2026 and inspired by a dream, "My Body, My Earth: The Practice of Somatic Archaeology" and "My Body, My Breath Card Deck." She was proud to be featured in Female Entrepreneurs Magazine in 2026 and is recognized as a poet whose writing reflects themes of healing and connection to the earth.
Born in Springfield, MA, Dr. Gibson values time spent with family—she has four children and five grandchildren—and enjoys boating on Flathead Lake in Montana, walking, hiking in the mountains, cooking, vegetable juicing, writing poetry and gardening.
