MINNEAPOLIS, MN, June 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott D. Nargan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Earning recognition for his expertise and longstanding dedication to improving his craft, Mr. Nargan has led a distinguished career of more than three decades in residential slate and tile roofing. Since 1993, he has served as the slate and tile project manager at Kaufman Roofing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he supervises the slate and tile crew, manages projects from inception to completion and conducts detailed property inspections.
Utilizing modernized drone technology, Mr. Nargan reviews between 60 and 70 photographs per inspection to identify broken slates and tiles, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. He is also responsible for providing accurate estimates to homeowners, many of whom own historic homes valued in the millions of dollars.
Throughout his 33-year tenure at Kaufman Roofing, Mr. Nargan has developed strong relationships with homeowners and remains immensely grateful for having the opportunity to work on so many architecturally significant properties. The historic homes he services are built to last, featuring roofs designed to endure for a century and constructed with premium materials such as copper nails and flashings.
Mr. Nargan's commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by his remarkable safety record; despite roofing being among the top five most dangerous professions for two decades, he has never experienced a fall during his 35-year career. He is particularly adept at managing the unique challenges presented by tile and slate roofing, including the need for immediate caution when weather conditions change.
Prior to joining Kaufman Roofing, Mr. Nargan worked with J.M. Roofing in Viola, Minnesota, specializing in slate and tile roofing under the mentorship of owner Jon Mundell from 1990 to 1993. This formative experience provided him with invaluable hands-on training and introduced him to the complexities of high-end residential roofing projects.
Before entering the roofing industry, Mr. Nargan spent one year working at AAA Fencing after being introduced to the company through a family connection. It was during this period that he discovered his passion for outdoor work, which ultimately guided his decision to pursue a career away from traditional desk jobs.
In addition to his professional achievements in the roofing industry, Mr. Nargan was formerly a guitarist in two rock and roll bands, demonstrating his creative versatility outside of his primary vocation. Equally committed to networking and professional development within the industry, he remains an active member of various roofing-related groups.
Mr. Nargan's educational background includes coursework at Rochester Community and Technical College, which laid a strong foundation for his technical proficiency and adaptability. To enhance his capabilities in project management and maintaining safety standards, he obtained an Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) drone pilot license from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as certifications from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and in installing Vande Hey Raleigh cement and concrete tiles.
Reflecting on his storied journey thus far, Mr. Nargan attributes much of his success to early influences such as Jon Mundell, who provided crucial mentorship during his initial years in roofing, as well as his experiences at Kaufman Roofing where flexibility and a continual willingness to learn proved invaluable. He emphasizes the importance of adapting to change, not strictly defining job roles and embracing mistakes as learning opportunities — qualities that have contributed significantly to his longevity and reputation in the industry.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Nargan plans to move out of his Minneapolis residence — where he has converted the basement into a short-term rental — and hopes to eventually rent out the entire property if he can secure a lake home where he can enjoy fishing upon retirement. His life and career stand as a testament to skillful craftsmanship, exemplary leadership, adaptability and unwavering dedication within one of America's most challenging trades.
