INDIANAPOLIS, IN, August 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christopher Smith has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Smith has established a distinguished career marked by leadership, innovation and a commitment to community empowerment. Since 2023, he has served as executive director of 1000 Words, a nonprofit organization he founded in 2020. In this capacity, Mr. Smith leads the organization's mission to support emerging Black and Brown artists by providing free exhibition opportunities and capacity-building training. Under his guidance, what began as a small gallery has evolved into a vibrant center dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists and arts administrators. He collaborates with other nonprofit leaders to develop strategies, explore fundraising opportunities and train aspiring leaders in the arts sector.

In addition to his role at 1000 Words, Mr. Smith is a strategic engagement consultant with The Cause Conduit. In this position, he leverages his expertise in leadership and development to advise organizations on engagement strategies that foster growth and sustainability.

Mr. Smith's professional journey includes an extensive tenure at Apple Inc., where he held several positions from 2012 to 2024. As a lead solutions consultant from 2016 to 2024, he was responsible for guiding teams to deliver innovative technology solutions and enhance customer experiences. From 2014 to 2016, he contributed as a solutions consultant, building on his earlier experience as an AppleCare AHA senior advisor from 2012 to 2014. His dedication and impact were recognized with the Ten-Year Anniversary Award in 2022.

Prior to his work at Apple Inc., Mr. Smith managed Wireless Revolution from 2011 to 2012, overseeing operations and driving sales initiatives. In 2012, he also served as an Upward Bound instructor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he mentored students preparing for higher education.

His early career featured positions such as sales representative for the Greater Cincinnati Tall Stack Commission, law clerk at Smith Rolfes & Skavdahl Company, student teacher at Colerain High School in and student observer/helper at Shroder Paideia Academy in the same year. He also gained legal experience as a legal intern with Procter & Gamble in 2004.

A former athlete, Mr. Smith competed as a pole vaulter at the University of Cincinnati, where he became both a conference champion and a school record holder. His athletic achievements culminated in being named Jamaican National Champion in Pole Vault by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association in 2010.

Mr. Smith's academic background includes a master's degree in secondary education from the University of Cincinnati, earned in 2007, and a bachelor's degree in secondary education with a focus on comprehensive social studies from the same institution in 2005. These academic achievements provided him with foundational skills that have informed his approach to leadership, mentorship and organizational development throughout his career.

His inspiration for founding 1000 Words Inc. stemmed from personal experiences as an artist beginning in 2012, when he started creating and selling photographic prints. By holding his first public art exhibition in 2014, Mr. Smith recognized the need for accessible venues that foster dialogue and creativity within local communities—particularly those underrepresented in mainstream art spaces.

Mr. Smith attributes his success to his faith, which has been a sustaining force throughout his life and career. He believes deeply in stewarding resources to uplift others and follows examples that emphasize service and community impact.

His civic involvement includes serving as a board member for Arts for Learning Indiana since 2024 and for the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center. These roles reflect his ongoing commitment to educational advancement and neighborhood development.

Among his most significant recognitions is the ARTI Award presented by the Indianapolis Arts Council in 2024, honoring his contributions as an artist and activist dedicated to underserved communities.

Born in Cincinnati, Mr. Smith enjoys traveling the world, a pursuit that broadens his perspective and informs his creative endeavors. Looking ahead, he is focused on expanding his organization into a sustainable entity that creates jobs and opportunities for Black and Brown individuals interested in careers or businesses within the arts sector. His vision includes building systems to fund Black-led nonprofits and address resource limitations within these communities.

Throughout his multifaceted career, Mr. Smith has demonstrated expertise in leadership and development while remaining steadfastly committed to empowering others through art, education and civic engagement.
