In 2024, Mr. Sun became the managing director at Sun and Moon Inc., based in Las Vegas, where he continues to provide consulting, advising and professional coaching services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he adapted his approach to coach clients remotely across Germany, Asia, Australia and other regions.

Since 2001, Mr. Sun has also been a founding partner at Definitive Design Development Group in California, contributing to innovative projects and business strategies. Additionally, since 1995, he has held the role of part-time managing director at Sun and Moon Inc., further expanding his influence in business consulting and leadership training.

From 2012 to 2024, Mr. Sun served as the president of Shady Canyon Community Association in Irvine, California, where he provided strategic direction for community development initiatives. Between 2020 and 2023, he was a partner at CEO Coaching International, guiding senior executives across various industries such as biotechnology, retail, e-commerce and manufacturing. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sun was the president of AuraSound from 1992 to 1997. He also owned a speaker company in Germany for nearly two decades, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and global perspective.

Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Sun achieved several notable milestones. He played a pivotal role in introducing Compaq Computer to the Asian market and opened the first Apple Center in Hong Kong. His collaboration with industry leaders such as Steve Jobs during Apple's formative years and sales to Bill Gates stand out as career highlights. He also worked closely with Michael Dell and contributed to the early conceptualization of the Apple Store model before its official launch. Additionally, Mr. Sun served on advisory committees and boards for Apple Computer, further cementing his reputation as an influential figure in technology and business.

In addition to his professional titles, Mr. Sun is a founding member and lifetime member of the Young Presidents' Organization World Presidents' Organization Santa Monica Bay Chapter since 1986. Now he has been inducted into YPO Global Ambassador Program. His involvement with this prestigious network underscores his commitment to leadership excellence.

Mr. Sun's academic background includes a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach, earned in 1980 and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, completed in 1978. Initially entering university as a pre-dental student, Mr. Sun shifted his focus after discovering his passion for economics. Completing four years of economics coursework in just two years with honors demonstrated his dedication and resilience. Mr. Sun is also a certified TTI talent insight coach, leveraging this credential to provide assessments that help clients understand their strengths and areas for growth.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Sun attributes much of his success to learning from mistakes and prioritizing time management, a philosophy he now imparts to young adults through coaching high school and college students on academic choices and career planning. He notes that amid the significant disruptions occurring in technology today, the most important step anyone can take is to act decisively and without delay. He encourages professionals and students alike to embrace artificial intelligence rather than fear it, urging them to learn as much as possible, as quickly as possible, in order to position themselves advantageously in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Mr. Sun's civic engagement reflects a lifelong commitment to community and institutional leadership. He served on the board of trustees at Shattuck-St. Mary's School from 2009 to 2011, on the board of governors at California State University, Long Beach from 1988 to 1990 and as senior adviser for the UCLA Business Economic Council during the same period. He also served on advisory boards for Apple Computer's dealer and product development boards, as an executive member of both the Asian Business Association and the Asian Business League and on the board of directors of the Hong Kong Business Association of Southern California.

Additionally, Mr. Sun's affiliations include the International Visitors Council of Los Angeles, the Long Beach Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Los Angeles Boy Scout Council and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, for which he provided volunteer service. He has also served as an associate member of the China Hong Kong Chapter YPO and as a founding member of the South Bay Santa Monica Bay Chapter YPO, among other affiliations.

Mr. Sun's achievements have been recognized with numerous prestigious honors. Notable among them are the High Tech Good Scout of the Year by the Greater Los Angeles Area Council in 1993, the Administrator's Award for Excellence from the U.S. Small Business Administration in 1991, and the Outstanding Alumni of the Year from the Graduate School of Management at California State University, Long Beach in 1990. He also received the NASA Subcontractor of the Year award from Rockwell International and the Vendor of the Year recognition from Hewlett-Packard, both in 1989.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Sun earned a remarkable series of accolades reflecting his standing as a pioneering entrepreneur and business leader. These include multiple Entrepreneur of the Year honors — from EY, the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Reagan, and the Institute of American Entrepreneur — as well as the National Minority Firm of the Year, presented by President Reagan at a White House Rose Garden ceremony in 1988. Additional honors include the Los Angeles Minority Business Enterprise Retail Firm of the Year from the U.S. Department of Commerce and several Supplier of the Year distinctions from various organizations, among others.

Born in Shanghai, Mr. Sun enjoys golfing weekly with his wife, listening to music and collecting vintage audio systems such as turntables, power amplifiers, preamplifiers and speakers. He remains dedicated to writing additional books on leadership development aimed at helping not only established leaders but also young people embarking on their professional journeys. Through coaching high school students, he guides them toward discovering their interests, developing relevant skills, identifying suitable majors and selecting appropriate schools so they can make informed decisions about their futures.
