Prior to his current role, Dr. Lewis contributed to academia as an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Oakwood University from 2005 to 2010. He is also a part-time instructor at Capitol Tech University in Laurel, Maryland, where he teaches doctoral students, and at Edward Waters University in Florida, where he instructs Master of Business Administration candidates.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in information systems from Florida Institute of Technology, awarded in 2005, as well as a Master of Science in management information systems from the same institution in 2004. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in finance and computer information systems from Oakwood University in 2001.

In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Lewis is certified as a boxing coach by the United States Boxing Association for the Southeastern Region. This certification has enabled him to extend his mentorship beyond professional and academic settings into community engagement.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Lewis attributes his success to a foundation built on hard work, humility and perseverance, values instilled by his parents. Growing up in a faith-based household shaped by his father's pastoral leadership and his mother's emphasis on prayer and meditation, Dr. Lewis learned the importance of commitment and seeing endeavors through to completion regardless of obstacles. Although he was born at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska as an Air Force brat without personal military service, his father's nine-year tenure in the Air Force inspired a deep respect for military service that influenced Dr. Lewis's career path.

Dr. Lewis' transition from academia to supporting the Department of Defense was driven by a desire to apply his expertise directly to military operations and international partnerships, a calling he pursued with the same conviction he brings to every endeavor. He believes humility is a cornerstone of genuine achievement: "If you are humble and willing to do the work, anything can be achieved," he says, pointing to his own journey as proof of that principle.

Civic engagement is central to Dr. Lewis' life. He is the founder and operator of the North Huntsville Onyx Boxing Club, established in 2012 as a passion project focused on mentoring youth from disenfranchised backgrounds and single-parent families through self-defense coaching and personal development. Originally created to provide self-defense training for young girls facing bullying at school, the club has since expanded into a comprehensive initiative serving a broader community need. Dr. Lewis has served as a board member of the Oakwood University Business Department, providing strategic guidance informed by his industry experience.

Dr. Lewis' scholarly contributions span a range of disciplines, with peer-reviewed publications on topics including supply chain logistics, cybersecurity, digital marketing strategy and the sustainability of HBCUs — all available on Google Scholar, where his work has earned over 115 citations.

Born at Offutt Air Force Base, Dr. Lewis enjoys coaching boxing, mentoring young people and exploring innovative approaches, such as building container homes. Looking ahead, he intends to advance within the United States Army by pursuing a division chief position while collaborating with his father on an autobiography chronicling their family's history from Nigeria through various regions across the United States and Asia.
