LATHAM, NY, July 17, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Scott Schneider, CPA, CAE, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who for his distinguished career in association management and public service that spans more than three decades. His steadfast commitment to advancing public education and community well-being also led to his selection.

Since 2020, Mr. Schneider has served as executive director of the New York State School Boards Association in Latham, New York. In this capacity, he represents 5,000 publicly elected school board members and their communities, working to ensure that every student across the state has access to equitable resources and an excellent educational experience. In addition to being responsible for the association's operations, he leads collaborative efforts with public education organizations and engagement with diverse stakeholders at both the state and federal levels. Under his leadership, the association launched a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee in 2020, reflecting his dedication to empowering all school boards to support every student. He credits many of these accomplishments to the strong team and the supportive governing board, which foster a culture of transparency and accountability.

Before his current role, Mr. Schneider served as the associate executive director and chief operating officer of the New York State School Boards Association from 2014 to 2019. During this period, he oversaw daily operations, strategic planning and financial management, further strengthening the organization's mission-driven focus.

From 1999 to 2014, Mr. Schneider served as director of finance at the same association. In this role, he managed financial operations and reporting, ensuring fiscal responsibility and supporting the organization's growth.

Before joining the New York State School Boards Association, Mr. Schneider spent seven years with the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association from 1992 to 1999. He began as controller before advancing to vice president of administration and finance. His tenure there provided foundational experience in association management.

Mr. Schneider's professional affiliations are extensive. He has been a board member of the New York State Association for Women in Administration since 2015 and the Public Employer Risk Management Association since 2020. He served on the finance committee of the Empire State Society of Association Executives, Inc., where he was also a board member from 2005 to 2013 and served as chairman in 2012. His expertise has been sought by the New York State Comptroller, serving as a member of both the Other Post-Employment Benefits Work Group in 2008 and the School District Financial Oversight Task Force in 2005. Mr. Schneider maintains an active membership in both the American Society of Association Executives and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.

His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and business administration from Siena University in Loudonville, New York, earned in 1986. This degree provided him with essential analytical skills that have underpinned his success across multiple sectors. Mr. Schneider holds several professional certifications: Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives; New York State property casualty broker from the New York State Department of Financial Services; and certified public accountant from the Board for Public Accountancy.

Mr. Schneider attributes his achievements to his upbringing; his mother was a teacher while his father practiced law independently—both instilling values of service, equity and professional fulfillment. He acknowledges mentors such as Rita Lashway, who encouraged his involvement with key industry associations early in his career, and Jay Worona, his general counsel and deputy executive director at the New York State School Boards Association.

Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Schneider has been civically engaged as a board member of Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York since 2014, including terms as a volunteer committee co-chair and treasurer through 2021. His philanthropic efforts include supporting No Kid Hungry through Share Our Strength, volunteering for fundraising events at the Center for Disability Services, and participating in Build-a-Bed initiatives.

His contributions have been recognized with several honors: Upstate Power 100 by City & State New York in 2023; Power Players in Education by AM Metro New York in 2022; Education Power 100 by City & State New York in both 2020 and 2021; and Distinguished Member of the Year by Empire State Society of Association Executives in 2018.

A Loudonville, NY native, Mr. Schneider is a single father who takes great pride in raising his daughter, a master's degree holder in health administration who works with the Heart Network on public health initiatives related to nicotine awareness and vaping prevention. Outside his professional life, he enjoys skiing, golfing and thoroughbred horse racing.

Looking ahead as executive director of the New York State School Boards Association, Mr. Schneider remains committed to delivering additional programs, services and resources that support school boards statewide.
