SAN ANTONIO, TX, July 14, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rev. Dr. Howard Anderson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Anderson has led a distinguished career marked by over four decades of leadership, service and dedication across the military, religious and civic spheres. Since 2005, he has served as president and chief executive officer of Diversified Spiritual Associates Trainers and Consultants, overseeing organizational strategy and spiritual guidance initiatives. In 2024, he additionally accepted the role of interim pastor at Savannah Baptist Church, providing pastoral leadership and support to the congregation.

From 2012 to 2021, Dr. Anderson excelled as an associate pastor at St. Paul's Baptist Church in San Antonio, where he contributed to the church's spiritual development and community outreach programs. His earlier tenure as a pastor at Mount Zion First Baptist Church, also in San Antonio, further demonstrated his commitment to faith-based leadership.

As a retiree activities coordinator for the Protestant Parish within the United States Air Force Chaplain Corps from 2011 to 2012, Dr. Anderson supported retired service members and their families and conducted retiree funerals. Over the course of eight years, he served as a faculty mentor at United Theological Seminary, guiding students in theological studies, spiritual formation and research.

A significant chapter in Dr. Anderson's career was his service as chaplain (Colonel) in the Texas State Guard from 2000 to 2010. He regards his time in this role — particularly during the severe flooding wrought by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans — as his most meaningful professional achievement. Assigned by his commander to remain with those affected by the disaster, he provided comfort through what he described as the ministry of presence, especially for children who sought solace in his company.

From 1995 to 2005, Dr. Anderson was a senior pastor at Coliseum Park Baptist Church, leading the congregation through a decade of growth and community engagement. He previously held a pastoral role at Live Oak Baptist Church in New Braunfels. He currently serves as an associate minister at Calvary Baptist Church in San Antonio under the leadership of Rev. Kevin L. Nelson.

Before entering full-time ministry, Dr. Anderson worked as a revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service, applying his expertise in management and operations to federal service. He also hails from an extensive military background, encompassing service in both the United States Air Force and the Texas State Guard — including two tours in Vietnam — over 38 years in federal and state military roles.

Dr. Anderson's equally accomplished academic journey began with an Associate of Arts in management from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 1976, followed by an Associate of Applied Science in technology and social service aid from the Community College of the Air Force. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on management and operations in 1979 and a Master of Arts in communications in 1980, both from the University of Northern Colorado.

Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning and growth, Dr. Anderson received a Master of Divinity in theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1998, which equipped him with many skills necessary for his advanced ministerial responsibilities. He later obtained a Doctor of Ministry with an emphasis on spiritual formation from United Theological Seminary in 2002, was certified as a spiritual counselor by The Voice for Love and became licensed and ordained within the Baptist faith.

Throughout his educational pursuits, Dr. Anderson drew inspiration from his first-grade teacher, Mrs. Coshburn, whose early encouragement and support instilled in him the confidence that propelled him through both academic and professional challenges.

Also known for his longstanding devotion to civic engagement, Dr. Anderson served as president of the board of directors for the Ella Austin Community Center — which provides childcare services, youth guidance and family counseling — from 1987 to 1993 and as an executive committee member for the Texas Association of Developing Colleges from 1978 to 1980. He also served as the 26th President of the NAACP's San Antonio Branch.

Dr. Anderson's exemplary military service and dedication to helping others have seen him recognized with numerous honors over the years. He was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in 2005, 1999 and 1980 and received a Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 7 oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Happily married since 1965, Dr. Anderson has long enjoyed a personal life marked by enduring partnership; his spouse has been actively involved with the International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows at the local, regional, and national levels while managing greeting card outreach for their church community after more than 30 successful years as a registered nurse.

Dr. Anderson's life and legacy are defined by steadfast service across the military, religious and civic domains, all of which has been guided by his determination to overcome adversity and uplift others through compassion, leadership and faith.
