MADISON, AL, July 14, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Deborah StarksRagler has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. StarksRagler concluded her distinguished career as a music teacher with the Madison County School System, retiring in 2026 after 23 years of dedicated service. Throughout her tenure, beginning in 2003, she became known for her commitment to fostering a love of music among students at various educational levels. Her approach emphasized engagement and cooperation, particularly among elementary students, whom she found to be especially eager and receptive to learning. She valued the unique qualities each age group brought to the classroom, appreciating the advanced capabilities of high school students while cherishing the enthusiasm and willingness of younger children.

Prior to her long-standing role in Alabama, Ms. StarksRagler began her teaching journey in Maryland with Baltimore City Public Schools. She spent two years in this position, where she initially sought a general education classroom role due to a lack of available music teaching positions. Ultimately, she secured a position in music, aligning with her passion and academic background.

In her own education, Ms. StarksRagler's achievements reflect her dedication to lifelong learning and professional excellence. She earned a Master of Arts in counseling from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, which provided her with valuable skills that complemented her work as an educator. In 2008, she completed a master's degree in elementary education, further enhancing her ability to connect with and instruct younger students. Her foundation was established with a Bachelor of Arts in music education and a master's degree in music education from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama, graduating in 2002. Throughout her educational journey, she consistently received academic achievement awards for maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or above each semester.

Ms. StarksRagler's pursuit of higher education was made possible through GI benefits administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, which she accessed through her spouse's military service. This support enabled her to overcome financial barriers and achieve her academic goals.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. StarksRagler attributes much of her success to her upbringing in poverty, which served as a powerful motivator to pursue education and create better opportunities for herself. Her enduring love for music and an early interest in healthcare also influenced her career path. Although she faced challenges during her undergraduate studies, she later developed into a more focused and passionate student, driven by a desire for personal growth and professional fulfillment.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. StarksRagler has maintained an active personal life centered around family and personal interests, including gardening as one of her favorite pastimes. She also values her family life, as the widow of her late husband James Ragler and stepmother to three stepchildren through marriage.

Looking ahead, Ms. StarksRagler plans to return to school to complete a degree in music therapy—a pursuit she began at Texas Woman's University before marriage and relocation interrupted her studies. Although subsequent coursework at Western Michigan University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga did not culminate in a degree in therapy, she brings a strong background in counseling that complements her experience as a music educator. She also intends to pursue training in naturopathy, recognizing that both fields offer flexible options for remote study that align with her interests and expertise. She encourages others to keep singing and making music, even if they are the only one, for as long as they can.
