Since 2022, Mr. Abramowitz has served as the chief executive officer of the Petey Greene Program, where he oversees all operations of the national nonprofit. In this capacity, he cultivates new programming across the country, focusing on educational tutoring inside prisons and jails. He is also responsible for training college students to become tutors who work with incarcerated individuals, helping justice impacted individuals achieve their educational goals and supporting their transition upon release. He also assumed the role of chief executive officer at the Puttkammer Center for Educational Justice & Equity in 2024, further advancing his mission to promote educational access and equity within the justice system. Mr. Abramowitz's leadership at Petey Greene Program has been instrumental in expanding its reach and impact nationwide.

A highlight of Mr. Abramowitz's career is his ongoing work as talk show host of The Looking Forward Show; which began in 2018 on PhillyCAM. The show explores the intersection of community and justice and has run for over seven years, earning recognition for its thoughtful engagement with critical social issues. Concurrently, Mr. Abramowitz co-hosts the Behind Every Employer Podcast; a program dedicated to workforce development issues.

Mr. Abramowitz's expertise is widely recognized across correctional and reentry education, consulting for various research programs and organizations nationwide. Currently, he serves as a subject matter expert for the U.S. Department of Justice and previously served as a subject matter expert for the US Department of Education, on projects involving correctional education and reentry initiatives.

From 2021 to 2022, Mr. Abramowitz was the Executive Director of Justice Partnerships at JEVS Human Services, one of Philadelphia's largest nonprofits. Prior to that, he held the position of executive director of reentry services at JEVS Human Services between 2018 and 2021, where he developed programs to support individuals returning from incarceration.

Among other professional opportunities, Mr. Abramowitz's journey included director of student services and workforce development at the Community Learning Center in Philadelphia between 2015 and 2017. For two decades prior to these roles, Mr. Abramowitz practiced as a trial lawyer in Philadelphia.

Academically, Mr. Abramowitz earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science at The Ohio State University in Columbus in 1981, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Michigan State University in East Lansing in 1984. He also has numerous certifications that have enhanced his ability to lead transformative initiatives, including an emerging leaders training certification from JustLeadershipUSA, LINCS reviewer certification, Getting Talent Back to Work certification from the Society of Human Resources Management Foundation, and a New Opportunities Workshop Certificate of Achievement from Temple University.

Mr. Abramowitz's professional affiliations are extensive. He is a member of the National Workforce Readiness Council and serves on the board of directors for PhillyCAM. He holds leadership positions with the Coalition on Adult Basic Education, including director of strategic initiatives, chair of state advocacy for adult education fellowship, secretary, and past chairperson of the prison literacy committee. He previously chaired the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition, co-chaired its community engagement committee and leads employment committees within Pennsylvania's workforce development boards. Additionally, Mr. Abramowitz has been an advisory member for The Petey Greene Program, a member of the board of directors for the Small Business Mentoring Initiative; and a rider and fundraiser for the American Cancer Bikeathon, notably cycling from Philadelphia to Atlantic City, New Jersey, to raise funds for cancer research.

An accomplished speaker and author, Mr. Abramowitz has delivered more than four hundred presentations nationwide over the past decade on topics related to criminal justice reform and adult education. His forthcoming book, "A Matter of Time," scheduled for release in December 2026, chronicles his personal story while providing readers with insights into the workings of the criminal justice system through its "A Matter of Fact" segment. Mr. Abramowitz has also published numerous articles, podcasts and interviews addressing these critical issues.

Among Mr. Abramowitz's honors are the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Adult Education Continuing Education Board and having the Vanguard Achiever Award 2026 named after him by Temple University, testaments to his impact on adult education. He was also selected as a JustLeadership USA fellow in criminal justice reform advocacy in 2018, a pivotal experience that deepened his commitment to systemic change.

Mr. Abramowitz credits many individuals who have influenced his journey but notes that it was his time spent incarcerated that truly revealed his life's purpose, helping others find meaning through education and support during reentry. Looking ahead, he plans to establish his own nonprofit organization, the And Then What Foundation, to guide individuals who have completed programs or faced adversity toward their next steps in life.
