From 2015 to 2019, Dr. Ziegler served as the director of advanced practice nursing and allied health professionals at NorthBay Health in Fairfield, California, alongside her eight-year tenure as a nurse practitioner and clinical practice manager for the facility's cardiovascular surgery program starting in 2011. She also spent nearly 20 years with the Emergency Nurses Association, where she taught registered nurses and medical students about the intricacies of caring for and providing initial treatment for trauma patients.

Dr. Ziegler's clinical foundation began with roles as an acute care nurse practitioner at University of Rochester Medical Center from 2007 to 2011 and as a cardiothoracic nurse practitioner at SSM Health Dean Medical Group and St. Mary's Hospital from 2006 to 2007. She further honed her expertise as a cardiothoracic nurse practitioner at Elmhurst Hospital from 2004 to 2006 after serving as a registered nurse there from 2001 to 2004, while her earliest nursing experience included positions at University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, Saint James Hospital and Riverside Hospital.
