PITTSBURG, CA, August 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronnie Palmer has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Palmer has built a distinguished career as an author and drug and alcohol counselor, dedicating nearly 20 years to supporting individuals on their journeys to recovery. Since 2009, he has served as a drug and alcohol counselor, drawing from his own lived experiences to guide clients through the challenges of addiction and sobriety.

In his current role at Alhambra Valley Retreat, Mr. Palmer provides individualized care at a residential treatment center, where he leads relapse-prevention groups and teaches classes based on the Four Agreements, principles central to his philosophy and featured in his book, "Finishing Stronger." He also incorporates holistic practices such as Tai Chi into his therapeutic approach, with his daughter joining him weekly to offer acupuncture services to clients.

Prior to his tenure at Alhambra Valley Retreat, Mr. Palmer spent six years at Options Recovery Services in Berkeley beginning in 2010. There, he worked extensively with parolees in Oakland, helping thousands of clients rebuild their lives after incarceration. His impact was so significant that Options Recovery Services invited him to teach smoking cessation classes at Alameda County Jail in 2011. Although initially unable to do so due to a legal matter, the case was dismissed after the court recognized his positive contributions to the community.

Mr. Palmer considers his work at Options Recovery Services among his proudest achievements, as he has witnessed countless individuals transform their lives and continues to connect with many of them through social media.

Born in Fort Worth a month premature to a teenage mother, Mr. Palmer spent his first month of life in an incubator before being welcomed into an adoptive family. His early years were marked by significant challenges, including his adoptive parents' struggles with alcoholism and their subsequent divorce when he was 10 years old. He remained with his mother in Texas until, at age 14, he made the decision to live with his father and stepbrother — a turning point that introduced him to the music industry and ultimately launched his career in rock band management, working alongside such notable figures as Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs, Booker T. & The M.G.'s, Sheila E., and Quincy Jones.

Despite achieving professional success as a road manager throughout the 1970s and beyond, Mr. Palmer struggled with heroin addiction for three decades before quitting in 1999. He later faced alcoholism and endured homelessness from 2003 to 2006 following a traumatic accident that left him hospitalized with amnesia. A pivotal moment came in February 2006 when he sought help at San Francisco General Hospital, leading to a 30-day detox program followed by further treatment at Golden Gate for seniors aged 55 and older. Encouraged to pursue education as part of his recovery journey, he completed coursework in drug and alcohol counseling before beginning his internship in 2009.

Beyond his direct work with clients, Mr. Palmer's professional journey is further distinguished by notable public recognition. He appeared on KRON-TV and was featured in USA Today, amplifying his message of hope and resilience within the addiction recovery field.

Mr. Palmer's educational background includes Certificates in Drug and Alcohol Addiction and Certificates in HIV/STI Prevention and Education, at San Francisco City College in San Francisco, California. This academic foundation has been instrumental in shaping his counseling approach and deepening his understanding of human behavior.

In addition to his counseling work, Mr. Palmer is the author of "Finishing Stronger," published in 2022 after four years of dedicated writing while balancing work and school commitments. The book chronicles his life story — from a challenging childhood marked by instability and early exposure to addiction, through decades spent managing world-renowned musicians while battling substance abuse himself, to ultimately achieving long-term sobriety and dedicating himself to helping others do the same. "Finishing Stronger" earned him the International Impact Book Award in the addiction and recovery category in 2025.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Palmer credits much of his success to the unwavering support of his wife and daughter, each accomplished in their respective fields. He emphasizes the importance of positive thinking and perseverance, lessons he imparts both professionally and personally. His message is one of hope: if you love yourself enough to love others, you can change the world.
