Mr. Martin's distinguished legal career spans several decades and is marked by significant achievements in law and securities enforcement-related matters. Having retired from Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, in 2009, he served as a partner for approximately 30 years. Initially an associate from 1973 to 1977, Mr. Martin was elevated to partner in 1978. Mr. Martin primarily focused on representing individuals, audit committees, and companies before the Securities & Exchange Commission ("SEC"). In addition, Mr. Martin participated in representing public companies in high profile transactions including mergers and hostile takeovers. Mr. Martin also participated in defending senior executives from major investment banks and public companies during investigations conducted by the SEC.

Among Mr. Martin's notable legal matters was his participation in the representation of the City of New York during its fiscal crisis in the 1970s. He participated in representing the City and its elected officials before the SEC and other Federal & State agencies with the aim to permit the City to maintain its ability to issue bonds and other debt instruments thereby providing financial stability for the City.

Further, Mr. Martin successfully defended members of audit committees composed of prominent business leaders responding to investigations before the SEC for potential violations of the Federal Securities laws. No charges or actions were brought by the SEC.

Before joining Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, Mr. Martin served as a Branch Chief and trial attorney at the SEC's New York Regional Office from approximately 1972 to 1973. Following graduation from the National Law Center at The George Washington University in 1969, Mr. Martin joined the SEC's Division of Enforcement at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Mr. Martin credits his legal experience at the SEC for enabling him to become an expert in SEC enforcement related matters.

Mr. Martin's academic background laid a strong foundation for his legal career. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from City College of New York in 1966. He completed a Doctor of Jurisprudence at The George Washington University in 1969. Pursuing further specialization, Mr. Martin obtained a Master of Laws from The George Washington University in 1973, and supplemented his studies with coursework at New York University due to a demanding schedule.

In addition to his degrees, Mr. Martin was admitted to practice by the New York Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mentorship played a crucial role in shaping Mr. Martin's approach to law and leadership. Influential figures provided guidance during Mr. Martin's years at the SEC. He credits the late Honorable Kevin Thomas Duffy, who served as the Regional Administrator of the SEC's New York Regional Office; later, Mr. Duffy became a Judge at the United States District Court, Southern District of New York. Mr. Martin was also mentored by the late Honorable Stanley Sporkin, who, among other positions, was the Director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement. Mr. Sporkin was elevated and became a Judge at the Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. In addition to Judges Duffy and Sporkin, Mr. Martin benefited from the guidance he received from senior members of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, who further honed Mr. Martin's legal expertise. These mentors stressed among other things, the importance of ethics in the practice of law.

Throughout his life and career, Mr. Martin demonstrated unwavering dedication to both his clients' interests and the broader legal community, qualities that have earned him recognition among peers.
