WHEAT RIDGE, CO, July 20, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jason Jacoby, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Jacoby is a neuroscientist whose research has advanced our understanding of how the retina encodes visual information. Over more than 26 years in academia and industry, he has combined original scientific discovery with expertise in advanced optical imaging techniques, contributing both to scientific literature and to the tools that enable modern neuroscience.

The foundation of his scientific reputation emerged during his postdoctoral research fellowship at Northwestern University, which he completed between 2014 and 2018 and was funded by the National Research Service Award from the National Eye Institute of the NIH. Working at the frontier of visual neuroscience, he discovered and characterized the High Definition family of retinal ganglion cells, expanding the known catalog of neurons that transmit visual signals from the eye to the brain. He also identified the amacrine cell type that serves as the principal source of nitric oxide in the mammalian retina, illuminating a key player in retinal signaling and neuromodulation. Beyond identifying novel cell types, his work mapped specific microcircuits responsible for distinct aspects of the visual experience.

Dr. Jacoby currently serves as an application scientist at TRANSVISTA, which he joined in 2026. In this role, he works with cutting-edge imaging techniques that help research laboratories link neural activity to behavior in freely-moving animals. He is also the founder and proprietor of SOMA Scientific, established in Denver in 2025, through which he draws on more than two decades of expertise to provide specialized scientific equipment and consultancy to researchers.

Earlier, from 2018 to 2025, Dr. Jacoby served as a product manager and application scientist at Intelligent Imaging Innovations (3i) in Denver, specializing in advanced imaging systems for biomedical research and helping scientists integrate them into their experimental workflows. His career in vision science began in ocular tissue recovery: he worked as a human cornea recovery specialist at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank in Denver from 2004 to 2007 and at Eversight in Chicago from 2007 to 2008, surgically procuring ocular tissue from donors for transplantation into patients affected by certain forms of blindness.

Dr. Jacoby is a member of the Society for Neuroscience and has served since 2020 as a review editor for the Cellular Neurophysiology section of the journal Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience.
Dr. Jacoby earned a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Denver in 2004 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences (Neuroscience) from the University of Illinois - Chicago in 2013, followed by his postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. He attributes his accomplishments to a rigorous work ethic, persistence, and meticulous attention to detail - qualities essential to controlling complex experimental variables and producing reliable, reproducible results.

Born in Chicago, Dr. Jacoby enjoys an active outdoor life in Colorado's mountains, including fly fishing, backpacking, hiking, and skiing, along with restoring vintage cars and world travel.

Looking ahead, Dr. Jacoby aims to continue advancing neuroscience by equipping researchers with new tools that make discovery possible, while pursuing his longstanding goal of contributing to treatments for specific forms of blindness - an ambition reflecting his enduring commitment to both scientific progress and human benefit.
