ATLANTA, GA, July 22, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fatima Donia Mili, MD, PhD, medical epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the July 2026, Atlanta, Georgia, regional issue of TIME magazine.

Distinguished by her exceptional skills in epidemiology and public health, Dr. Mili has worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since 1991. After initially completing a postdoctoral program in the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service, she has taken on a number of roles at the organization, culminating in her current positions as senior medical epidemiologist and mentor in epidemiology and surveillance. She dedicates her time to studying the causes, distribution and control of diseases across populations, with the goal of preparing people and keeping them safe from future outbreaks.

Dr. Mili's career includes seven years as a medical epidemiologist with the CDC's Division of Blood Disorders. In this capacity, she trained junior scientists in epidemiology and biostatistics. She has also contributed significantly as an educator at Emory University and the Morehouse School of Medicine. Recognized for her scholarly output, she has authored and published impactful, peer-reviewed articles on a wide range of topics, including genetic and chronic diseases, global health disparities and HIV.

Among her accomplishments, Dr. Mili has been lauded for her critical research, conducted in collaboration with the Morehouse School of Medicine, which examined disparities in access to medical care and barriers to diagnosis and treatment faced by racial and ethnic minorities and underserved communities in the United States. In addition to several widely praised publications, this research was utilized by the U.S. Congress in 2000 to address health care inequality. Dr. Mili also took on a prominent role in leading teams of epidemiologists and statisticians as part of the CDC's COVID-19 emergency response team. Her detailed data collection, analysis and modeling helped guide the government's pandemic policy decisions and the development of national vaccine programs.

Dr. Mili first sought education in France, graduating with honors with a baccalaureate diploma in mathematics and science from the Academy of Grenoble. She obtained an MD in medicine from the University of Geneva in 1981, followed by a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health in 1989. Dr. Mili was awarded a full fellowship and scholarship to Emory University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, earning a PhD in epidemiology in 1997.

Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Dr. Mili has received multiple awards in recognition of her achievements. Most notably, she received the Outstanding Epidemic Intelligence Service Award from the CDC in 1991. In 2004, she was presented with the Early Career Author Award by the Research Triangle Institute, and in 2021, she was bestowed the Excellence in Emergency Response Toby Merlin Award – Domestic and the Excellence in Epidemiology Award – Domestic by the CDC. Most recently, Dr. Mili was named a Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian for 2026.
