In his current capacity, he oversees customer service operations, provides guidance to customers regarding their ice cream dessert needs, and manages human resources functions, including payroll administration. His responsibilities extend to active participation in the hiring process, inventory oversight and the preparation of in-house grab&go treats. Additionally, he is responsible for ensuring routine equipment maintenance is conducted and for providing operational support during peak periods.

Prior to assuming ownership, Mr. Castañeda served in a dual capacity as a front office team member and translator for the Family Health Partnership Clinic in Crystal Lake IL. In this role, he supported the mission of this nonprofit organization, which is to provide high quality healthcare services to the uninsured adults of McHenry County delivered with compassion and respect. The clinic recognizes that, as a community, it is responsible for one another. His bilingual proficiency enabled him to facilitate effective communication with patients, while his administrative contributions helped to streamline clinic operations.

Mr. Castañeda also gained valuable experience at the Alzheimer's Association in Chicago, in the donor services department, where he supported fundraising initiatives and cultivated donor relationships. Working at the association for about 8 years, his expertise grew from coding donor relations to assessing company matching gift contributions. His professional journey began in a part-time capacity at Woodstock Dairy Queen. Beginning in high school, he developed an early appreciation for customer service and small business management. He maintained a strong relationship with the establishment's previous ownership throughout the course of his academic pursuits, a connection that later facilitated his return to purchase and lead the business following the previous owner's retirement.

In addition to his business responsibilities, Mr. Castañeda serves as a board member of the Family Health Partnership Clinic and is recognized as a part of the Leadership Greater McHenry County Class of 2023. His achievements have been recognized with several honors, including the Latinx Community Leader Award from Wintrust Community Bank in 2025 and the recipient of the 40 Under 40 Business Award in McHenry County.

Mr. Castañeda educational background includes a master's degree in business from DePaul University in Chicago, earned in 2019 and a bachelor's degree in social justice from Roosevelt University in Chicago, completed in 2014. His academic journey began at McHenry Community College, an experience he values for its accessibility and supportive environment—particularly for students still determining their career paths or managing financial constraints. Beyond his formal education, he credits his consistent volunteerism and commitment to giving back as key factors in his success, emphasizing that education and community involvement are essential for overcoming barriers.

Born in Mexico City to first-generation immigrant parents who then immigrated to the United States in the mid-1980s, Mr. Castañeda is deeply rooted in both family and community values, with his wife, son, and extended family. His wife and both of his parents continue to support the family business through production, maintenance and customer service roles at Woodstock Dairy Queen. To Mr. Castañeda it's important to show up every day and help all those who reflect his background or his story. It is a reminder to himself that his success is not just for him — it is for every person who would come after him. He shows up to break barriers, to lead by example, and to pave the way for the next individual who deserves a seat at that table.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Castañeda enjoys traveling with his son and wife and marathon running. In the coming years, he and his wife plan to establish a foundation dedicated to providing scholarships to students who need financial assistance to pursue higher education. He encourages others to maintain a positive outlook regardless of their circumstances. While recognizing that outcomes do not always align with expectations, he believes that perseverance, faith in future opportunities and resilience through adversity ultimately lead to growth and better possibilities ahead.
