MIDLOTHIAN, VA, July 30, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert James Jones with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Jones celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Jones's distinguished career in engineering spans two decades, culminating in his retirement as the co-founder and engineering consultant of Jones, Jones & Jones Inc., a venture he established with his two brothers. Although the company only operated for about a year, this milestone marked the transition to his consulting work, where he continued to apply his expertise and leadership in the field. Mr. Jones's reputation as an expert in engineering is underscored by his ability to guide projects to successful completion and by his commitment to advancing industry standards.
He began as a lead engineer in 1972 on a major field project in Richmond, Virginia with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Newark, Delaware, before transferring to a fabric and finishing plant in Parlin, New Jersey for a critical field engineering assignment. Notably, at Parlin Mr. Jones resolved an emissions issue caused by exothermic reactors within four months, well ahead of the six-month mandate set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, demonstrating his ability to deliver under pressure and effect meaningful change in environmental compliance.
During his more than decade-long tenure at Philip Morris USA from 1979 to 1992, Mr. Jones held pivotal roles as a senior engineer and project manager across three locations. His final project at Philip Morris USA involved establishing an engineering standards program that streamlined existing standards into five organized categories, consolidating operations across facilities in Louisville, Kentucky, Cabarrus, North Carolina, and several sites in Richmond.
Before joining Philip Morris USA, Mr. Jones served with DuPont's engineering services division from 1972 to 1976. He was instrumental in a $40 million Nomex expansion project that doubled Nomex production capacity. His exemplary performance led to a swift transition to the Savannah River Site, where he worked from 1976 to 1979 as an "Engineer A" and shift supervisor within a nuclear weapons-oriented engineering and separations departments requiring top secret clearance. While at DuPont's Savannah Road Plant, colleagues affectionately nicknamed him "Main Man," reflecting the respect he earned for his collaborative approach and leadership style. Mr. Jones credits much of his project management expertise to experiences gained during his DuPont employment.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Jones contributed at Rotating Components, Inc. in Brentwood and Bayshore, New York, where he drafted blueprints for motors, fans, blowers and other rotating devices. This foundational work laid the groundwork for his later achievements in engineering design and emissions control systems, areas he regards as among his most significant professional accomplishments.
