ROCHESTER, MN, August 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert W. Nuss has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Nuss has built a distinguished career in the trucking and equipment industry, marked by nearly five decades of leadership and innovation. Since 2001, he has served as a dealer principal for Volvo Trucks North America, guiding the company through significant industry changes and expanding its market presence. In this capacity, Mr. Nuss has overseen operations that have contributed to the growth and reputation of Nuss Truck & Equipment as a leading heavy-duty truck dealer.

As the president of Nuss Truck & Equipment since 1979, which Mr. Nuss founded on his birthday in December of that year, he began with approximately a dozen employees. Unfortunately, he faced immediate adversity when a fire at a neighboring restaurant spread to the company's building on its first day. Despite this challenge, he led the company to achieve $5 million in annual revenue by 1980. Under Mr. Nuss's direction, Nuss Truck & Equipment has grown to employ nearly 400 team members and operates 10 locations across 10 cities, serving most of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin and Missouri. The company is recognized for its dual representation of Mack and Volvo trucks, with specialized locations, such as Sikeston, Missouri, exclusively selling Volvo trucks and St. Cloud, Minnesota, focusing solely on Mack trucks. Additionally, two locations offer Volvo construction equipment and the East Bethel site operates primarily as a service center. The business also provides leasing services through Nuss Lease and Rental.

Mr. Nuss's tenure as a Mack distributor principal for both Mack Trucks in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Nuss Truck Group Inc., beginning in 1979, further solidified his expertise in the industry. He played a pivotal role during challenging periods for Mack Trucks, including the financial crisis in 1989, when Volvo later acquired the company in 2001. As the dealer council chair for Mack Trucks, a position he held for several years after being selected by fellow dealers, Mr. Nuss advocated for dealers' interests and was so instrumental that term limits were revised to allow him to step down voluntarily.

Before his role as dealer principal, Mr. Nuss served as the general manager of Mack Trucks of Rochester from 1973 to 1979. During this period, he managed operations while preparing for future ownership opportunities. Promoted from the role of a parts manager at Mack Trucks of Rockford, beginning in 1969, he was given the opportunity to work alongside his father in one of the world's leading machine tool manufacturing centers at that time.

Mr. Nuss's educational background included earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in 1966. This academic foundation provided him with essential skills that have supported his long-term success in managing complex business operations and navigating industry challenges.

Active with various organizations and nonprofits, Mr. Nuss serves on the foundation board and scholarship committee for the Minnesota Trucking Association and volunteers as the chair for the Nuss Collection Truck Museum. He formerly served as a board member and truck dealer chair for the Minnesota Automotive Dealers Association from 1995 to 2014.

Mr. Nuss's commitment also extends to philanthropy. Under his guidance, Nuss Truck & Equipment established a donor-advised fund supporting numerous charitable organizations through the Rochester Area Foundation. The company's approach allocates equal charitable giving amounts per employee annually, fostering fairness and collective decision-making among staff members from various departments. This innovative model contributed to Nuss Truck & Equipment being recognized as Outstanding Philanthropic Organization by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Southern Minnesota in 2024. In under five years, the company contributed more than $500,000 to charitable causes, with cumulative contributions through the Rochester Area Foundation exceeding $1 million.

Throughout his career, Mr. Nuss has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to the industry. He received the Mack Truck Dealer of the Year award in 1997. He was also quoted twice on the front page of The Wall Street Journal in 1990 and 2001 and featured in Construction Equipment Guide's Southeast Edition. In January 2017, Mr. Nuss was named American Truck Dealer of the Year by American Truck Dealers at an event in New Orleans, a testament to his impact on the field. Mr. Nuss received a fifty-year award from the American Truck Historical Society in 2023 for service and dedication to the trucking industry.

Mr. Nuss's dedication is reflected not only through awards but also through public engagement projects, such as hosting open houses at the Nuss Collection Truck Museum in Rochester, being featured on public television, appearing on WCCO TV, participating in "Finding Minnesota" on CBS Minneapolis, and being interviewed by The Boston Trucker. His leadership was further highlighted when he hosted the president of the United States at the Burnsville dealership on April 15, 2019, a rare honor reflecting national recognition of his achievements. Additionally, Mr. Nuss's legacy has included significant contributions to public safety, most notably coordinating efforts after September 11, 2001, to secure a donated Mack fire truck for the New York City Fire Department with support from General Safety's Rosenbauer division in Austria.

Attributing much of his professional success to personal values shaped by family support and nearly six decades of marriage, Mr. Nuss's wife, Sheri, has played an integral role in managing both personal and business matters alongside him. He emphasizes stewardship over ownership regarding wealth and believes strongly in fiduciary responsibility toward employees, family members, suppliers and customers.

Born in Rockford, IL, Mr. Nuss grew up learning resilience through modest circumstances before joining his father's business legacy as a second-generation Mack dealer, a tradition now carried forward by his two sons, Greg (CEO) and Brad (CFO), who are actively involved in company leadership today. Looking ahead, he is focused on ensuring that Nuss Truck & Equipment continues operating successfully according to the principles he established as the founder while preserving a meaningful legacy for future generations within both his family and community.
