During her 23 years in this role, Mrs. Estavillo became renowned for her expertise in confidence and self-esteem development, work ethic, morals and values cultivation, self-respect development and growth support, and fostering positive influence among her students.

In recognition of her decades of service and impact, Mrs. Estavillo received the Teacher of Distinction award from the Rotary Group in Safford, Arizona, in April 2025. This honor was especially meaningful as it included a letter from her superintendent — a former fourth-grade student who later became her supervisor during the last five years of her teaching career. Ms. Estavillo considers her greatest achievement to be witnessing her students become successful individuals who achieve their goals, taking pride in being part of their journeys.

Prior to her tenure at Bonita Elementary School, Mrs. Estavillo taught both third and fourth grades at Willcox Elementary School in Willcox, Arizona from 1980 to 2002. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, she coached high school track and field during her time at Willcox. Under her leadership, the girls' track team secured state championships in Arizona in 1985, 1988 and 1990, while also finishing as state runners-up in 1989.

Notably, Mrs. Estavillo's exceptional coaching earned her recognition as Arizona's Track Coach of the Year in 1988. Throughout these years, Mrs. Estavillo's primary goal was to see her students progress over time, guided by a strong belief in her work and a passion for teaching history and patriotism.

Mrs. Estavillo's academic background provided a solid foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Master of Education in elementary education and teaching from The University of Arizona in 1985 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at the same institution. The values instilled by her parents played a pivotal role in shaping Mrs. Estavillo's approach to education. She also credits her faith in God, the high standards and morals imparted by her family, and the steadfast support of her husband as key influences on her success.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Estavillo has demonstrated an enduring commitment to civic engagement and charitable causes. She is a supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project, the DAV and her local church. These affiliations reflect her broader dedication to service and community well-being.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Estavillo has been honored with several awards that underscore her impact as an educator and coach. In addition to the Teacher of Distinction award from the Safford Rotary Club in 2025 and being named Arizona's Track Coach of the Year in 1988, she is also the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for 2026.

In her personal life, Mrs. Estavillo is the mother of one son and one daughter. Sports and fishing are among her favorite pastimes, reflecting an active lifestyle outside of work. Together with her husband, she is dedicated to fostering a love of learning among their three grandchildren by volunteering at their daycare center and preschool. She encourages them to respect themselves, their classmates and their teachers while appreciating the privilege of living in their country and attending excellent schools.
