As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mrs. Cancio has built a client-centered immigration practice as the managing attorney at The Law Offices of Nelsis G. Cancio PLLC in Miami Lakes which she founded in 2023. In this capacity, she conducts client consultations, ensures thorough case analysis, manages court appearances and oversees firm case strategy, filings and client representation. She leads her team with a commitment to representing clients nationwide, reflecting her dedication to providing comprehensive legal support across the United States. Under her leadership, the firm has expanded its services nationally and opened a new office in Miami Lakes, marking significant milestones in its growth and reach.

Mrs. Cancio's firm is committed to transparency, providing a thorough and honest assessment of each case by clearly explaining its strengths, potential challenges and the legal options available. Guided by empathy and a genuine concern for the well-being of clients and their families, the firm is dedicated to delivering compassionate representation while advocating diligently for each client's goals.

Among her most notable achievements, Mrs. Cancio was recognized as the Best Immigration Law Firm in Florida last year (2025) and remains a contender for the award again this year. She takes particular pride in guiding immigrants through complex legal processes and helping them secure legal status in difficult situations where they had lost hope. These accomplishments underscore her extensive knowledge in immigration law, visa and citizenship matters, family petitions and removal proceedings.

Prior to founding her own practice, Mrs. Cancio served as a law clerk at Del Pino & Associates, P.A. in Coral Gables from 2021 to 2023. In this role, she gained valuable experience supporting attorneys with research, drafting legal documents and assisting with case preparation. During the summer of 2022, she worked as an intern at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office, where she further developed her courtroom skills and deepened her understanding of public service within the legal system.

From 2021 to 2022, Mrs. Cancio was a law student representative for the Immigration Clinic at St. Thomas University College of Law. There, she advocated for clients navigating immigration challenges while honing her practical legal skills under faculty supervision. Concurrently, she worked as a law clerk for Eric J. Grabois, P.L., Attorney-at-Law, from 2021 to 2022, contributing to case management and legal research.

In 2021, Mrs. Cancio completed a legal internship at PereGonza The Attorneys in Miami, where she assisted with casework and client communications. Her early professional experience includes serving as a paralegal at the Law Firm of Joseph R. Lackey LLC from 2019 to 2020 and as an immigration paralegal at Michelle C. Sanchez, P.A., from 2018 to 2019.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Cancio has demonstrated exceptional leadership within professional organizations. As communications chair for the Maritime Law Society, secretary of the Children and Family Law Society and president of both the Hispanic American Law Student Association and Immigration Law Students Association, she has championed diversity and inclusion within the legal community. Additionally, she is affiliated with the Cuban American Bar Association and the Cuban American Student Bar Association and serves as a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Mrs. Cancio's educational background has been instrumental to her professional success. She earned a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University College of Law in 2023 after graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a minor in international relations from Florida International University in 2019. Her academic achievements include placement on the Dean's List from 2017 to 2019 and receipt of the Vice Provost Council Scholarship in 2019.

The foundation of Mrs. Cancio's career is deeply rooted in her family's immigrant experience. Inspired by her parents' successful journeys from Cuba—her father arriving by boat and her mother through legal channels—and motivated by her grandfather's unfulfilled dream of obtaining legal residency, she chose immigration law as both a profession and personal mission. This legacy continues to drive her commitment to helping others navigate the complexities of U.S. immigration processes.

Overall, Mrs. Cancio attributes her success to a genuine passion for immigration law and an unwavering commitment to serving her clients. She believes that meaningful work is driven by purpose and finds fulfillment in helping individuals and families navigate the immigration process. She also credits her husband and parents for their steadfast encouragement and support, noting that their unwavering belief in her has been instrumental to both the success of her firm and her personal resilience.

Mrs. Cancio's dedication extends beyond professional practice into civic engagement through pro bono assistance in select matters. She provides critical assistance to clients facing difficult circumstances and supports crisis relief efforts for Cuba and Venezuela, reflecting a broader commitment to social justice.

Mrs. Cancio maintains an active presence on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where she creates educational content tailored for Latin communities and Spanish speakers seeking guidance on immigration matters.

Born in Miami, Mrs. Cancio enjoys traveling, reading, boating and spending time with family outside of her professional responsibilities. Looking ahead, she aims to expand the firm's reach to a nationwide level so that more individuals and families across the country can access informed, compassionate immigration representation and establish offices beyond Florida to serve clients personally wherever they reside.
