Ms. Copeland's distinguished, award-winning career spans more than four decades, marked by an unwavering dedication to nursing, caregiving and writing. In 2009, she joined Pinnacle Home Care as a registered nurse, where she focused on gerontology and elder care and found her niche. In addition to her daily nursing responsibilities, Ms. Copeland has worked as a caregiver for her mother and husband. Since 2015, she has been focused on applying her extensive nursing expertise to assist her family.

Having begun her professional journey in 1971, Ms. Copeland worked for Air New England, then later for Command Airways, in various roles. Pivoting into healthcare, she excelled as an emergency medical technician in New York State. During that time, she was an active member of a volunteer rescue squad, contributing both as an EMT and a registered nurse. In 1980, she began her tenure as a registered nurse after earning an associate's degree. Ms. Copeland's expertise also included positions as a school nurse, gym teacher, health teacher and classroom monitor at a Christian school in Clinton Corners, New York.

Among other professional endeavors, Ms. Copeland spent about 10 years as freelance newspaper columnist for The Villages Daily Sun and New Life News in Central Florida. She began her writing journey at age 12 with the Vineyard Gazette, contributing a weekly Girl Scout column for several years. Her literary accomplishments included authoring the teen romance "Stay Sweet Love," published by Silhouette First Love Books in 1983. The novel tells the story of two teenagers on Martha's Vineyard and achieved significant success with approximately 90,000 copies sold. Ms. Copeland also contributed two short stories to "Holiday Helpings," a book published by her writers' group in Florida with proceeds benefiting charity. She published an illustrated book, "Please Pass the Pasta," which has been enjoyed by families and young readers alike.

With respect to her writing engagements, Ms. Copeland continues on with her passion for writing, which remains central to her life's work.

Ms. Copeland acquired an Associate of Applied Science in registered nursing from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She has maintained licensure as a nurse in both New York and Massachusetts throughout her career. Today, Ms. Copeland remains committed to continuous learning by regularly exceeding the minimum requirements for continuing education credits needed to maintain her nursing license. Her studies have included topics such as juvenile and adult diabetes, child and elder abuse across different regions, heart function and mental health.

Active in her professional community, Ms. Copeland was a member of Pen Women. Civically involved, she spent over 10 years leading Girl Scouts of America troops, emphasizing first aid training so that every scout could earn a first aid badge under her guidance. She has also volunteered with a rescue squad as an EMT in New York and has participated in charitable projects, such as "Holiday Helpings," for a cause that focused on childhood disabilities, which was sponsored by golfer Nancy Lopez. Additional community service has included roles with Beacon of Hope and Fairway Christian Churches, 4-H, and various animal care and childcare initiatives. Ms. Copeland has also taught skills like sewing and writing to others and has served as the board secretary at her church.

Ms. Copeland's work in home care and gerontology was recognized with the Sand Dollar Award for clinicians at Pinnacle Home Care in Florida. For her volunteer contributions, she received annual recognition pins from Girl Scouts of America.

Looking ahead, Ms. Copeland plans to continue publishing books, essays and articles while advancing her nursing education so she can assist those in need whenever possible.
