Mr. Mindus currently serves as a practice leader for management due diligence at Heron Intelligence, based in New York and London, a position he has held since 2015. In this capacity, he conducts confidential research interviews with former colleagues of executives and companies being evaluated by clients. The interviews provide firsthand assessments of executives' strengths, weaknesses and management styles to investors, private equity firms and hedge funds. His work is grounded in a reputation for integrity, objectivity and the trust placed in him by those who hire him and rely on his insights.

From 2014 to 2021, Mr. Mindus was also a senior researcher at Blue Heron Research Partners. His responsibilities included gathering critical intelligence to support client decision-making processes. Prior to this, he was the director of business development at the Saint Consulting Group in London and San Ramon, California from 2006 to 2014. Concurrently, between 2004 and 2011, Mr. Mindus additionally served as secretary for the South London Liberal Synagogue in London, England, where he supported the synagogue's council and administrative functions.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Mindus held several positions at Thomson Reuters. He was internal communications manager from 2002 to 2006 and director of sales communications between 2000 and 2002. From 1983 to 1993, he served as correspondent and chief sub-editor/editor of Reuters, working in New York, Washington, London, Berlin and Hong Kong. A defining moment in his professional journey occurred when he reported from Berlin during the fall of the Wall in November 1989, covering events at Potsdamer Platz. He became editor of Reuters Magazine in 1993, the first publication by Reuters for its news and investor clients. Over seven years, Mr. Mindus grew the magazine from a circulation of 10,000 and 12 pages to more than 130,000 and 64 pages, and Reuters Magazine earned 13 awards from the British Publishers Magazine Association.

Before joining Reuters, Mr. Mindus worked as a staff reporter for The Baltimore Evening Sun from 1980 to 1983, after serving as a State House reporter for The Boston Herald from 1977 to 1980, and, prior to that, as a reporter for The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, Massachusetts, between 1972 and 1977. In these early roles, he covered local and state government, political and investigative stories that laid the foundation for his later achievements.

Mr. Mindus's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, which he earned in 1972 after completing his studies in three and a half years. Furthering his education internationally, he obtained the Zertifikat für Deutsch als Fremdsprache from the Goethe-Institut e.V. in Germany in 1991. Mr. Mindus attended public school in New Bedford before enrolling at Friends Academy, a Quaker day school. He later attended The Hotchkiss School before matriculating at Haverford College.

Mr. Mindus's pursuit of excellence is deeply influenced by the single-minded sense of purpose demonstrated by both his parents throughout their lives — an ethic that has guided his own professional path. Early exposure to journalism through four summers interning at The Standard Times in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and one summer at The Hartford Courant through a Newspaper Fund prize set him on course for a career in journalism. These formative experiences led directly to his first position at The Patriot Ledger and subsequent roles at major news organizations.

Throughout his career, Mr. Mindus has been recognized with multiple awards from the Associated Press, the British Publishers Magazine Association, Baltimore Evening Sun, Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger. His civic engagement includes serving as secretary on the council of the South London Liberal Synagogue in London. In addition to his professional writing and reporting roles, Mr. Mindus contributed articles to The East Bay Monthly in Berkeley, California in 2012.

Born in New Bedford, Mr. Mindus comes from a family marked by resilience and accomplishment.
Both deceased parents, Dr. Walter V. Mindus, a surgeon and general practitioner, and Lily Dumont, a concert pianist and child prodigy, were born and raised in Berlin but fled Nazi Germany in 1937. He has one daughter, Sophia, who lives in London, and his late brother, Dr. Lester Alexander Mindus, a psychologist for 50 years, passed away in May 2023. His nephew Jason Mindus, an account executive with Fujifilm Healthcare, lives in Long Beach, California. Mr. Mindus now resides in Carlsbad with his partner, Barbara Chenault-Miller, who works for Northrop Grumman.

Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Mindus enjoys playing golf and listening to classical and contemporary music. Looking ahead, he intends to focus on good health and meaningful reflection on lessons learned throughout his life — including how his family coped with adversity and change — with plans to write about these experiences while continuing to enjoy his personal interests.
