HIALEAH, FL, September 14, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carlos Rivera Cuellar has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Rivera Cuéllar's career stands as a testament to his expertise in banking technology and payment media environments, particularly in the operations of Visa and Mastercard. As chief executive officer of Financiera ViaCarte in Panama City, he has overseen the organization's strategic direction and operational growth. In this capacity, he built the group's financial infrastructure from the ground up, establishing Financiera Via Carte Inc., which he describes as a unique fixture within Panama's banking sector. Under his leadership, the entity achieved principal membership with both Visa and Mastercard, secured approval for proprietary tools and expanded its influence across the industry. Mr. Rivera Cuéllar's relationship with these global payment networks spans more than three decades and he has worked throughout much of Central America, including Chile, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Panama.

Since 2026, Mr. Rivera Cuéllar has also served as a payments technology consultant for ViaPay Inc. guiding technological advancements and operational strategies. Prior to these appointments, he was vice president of electronic payment media at Atlas Bank Panama from 2022 to 2024, where he contributed to the bank's initiatives in digital payments.

From 2020 to 2022, Mr. Rivera Cuéllar held the position of executive vice president and general manager at Versatile Technology Inc., based in Panama City. There, he managed business operations and supported technological integration within financial services. His earlier tenure as technology project manager for Latin America at Hangzhou Sunyard Technology Co., Ltd., from 2015 to 2020, involved overseeing regional projects that advanced payment technologies across multiple markets.

For the preceding two years, Mr. Rivera Cuéllar worked as a project manager at WiseCoding S.L., where he directed software development initiatives tailored to financial institutions. Previously, as regional technology manager for Versatile Technology Inc. from 2008 to 2013, he coordinated cross-border teams focused on deploying secure payment solutions throughout Latin America.

Mr. Rivera Cuéllar's professional journey began in the banking and finance sector across El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras from 1987 to 2008. During this period, he held various executive roles that shaped his understanding of regional banking systems and introduced him to emerging technologies in payment media. His assignments took him to Chile in the 1990s as an assistant at Bank of Chile, followed by contributions to digital wallet initiatives in Costa Rica under a USAID-backed program coordinated through a Central American banking organization headquartered in Honduras.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rivera Cuéllar has remained dedicated to staying current amid rapid changes in technology and regulatory frameworks governing payment media. He considers this ongoing commitment his most significant achievement, noting that colleagues across several countries continue to seek his perspective due to their confidence in his judgment. He maintains that keeping pace with evolving operational releases from Visa and Mastercard — as well as expanding his knowledge base to include China UnionPay — is essential for continued relevance in the field. While many peers have shifted focus away from professional development, he remains deeply engaged with the work he loves.

Mr. Rivera Cuéllar's academic foundation was laid at Universidad de El Salvador, where he studied mathematics with a specialization in computer science. This rigorous education provided him with analytical skills that have been instrumental throughout his career in banking technology and payment media environments. He further distinguished himself by earning a diploma in information technology project management through an NCR scholarship program sponsored by the University of California, Berkeley — an experience that introduced him to cutting-edge technology during the formative years of the industry.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Rivera Cuéllar attributes much of his success to discipline, faith and the family values instilled in him by his parents. The example set by his father's resourcefulness and his mother's steadfast guidance fostered a personal sense of decency and perseverance that has guided him through complex professional challenges. He also credits his ability to remain composed under pressure and persistently pursue solutions as key factors behind his accomplishments.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Rivera Cuéllar has maintained involvement with civic organizations, such as the Lions Clubs of Honduras and Honduras Rotary Club during earlier stages of his career. He actively participates in charity runs several times each month and supports causes like PETA and local animal shelters, reflecting a lifelong commitment to animal welfare.

Mr. Rivera Cuéllar enjoys reading extensively, taking long walks with his wife and attending church services when possible. He is devoted to family life and values weekends spent exclusively with loved ones. While once an avid soccer player, he now favors less strenuous activities following a knee injury that prompted him to set aside competitive sports.

Mr. Rivera Cuéllar distinguishes between his professional and personal identities, describing himself as a composed and approachable leader who often uses humor to ease tension and create a positive atmosphere in the boardroom. Outside of work, he embraces that same sense of humor, finding joy in laughter, playful moments and time spent with his family. He recalls a favorite memory from years of playing Monopoly with his daughters, when he used his knowledge of banking and strategy to subtly alter the rules to his advantage. Now adults, his daughters have since told him they recognize that he had been "cheating" them all along. For Mr. Rivera Cuéllar, the story represents a broader lesson about the importance of understanding the rules, recognizing the people involved and remaining aware that success in both life and business requires preparation and awareness. Although the lesson was not fully appreciated at the time, he believes his daughters now understand the point behind those family games.

Mr. Rivera Cuéllar's accolades include national recognition as Best Bachelor in El Salvador and receipt of the NCR scholarship award. Looking ahead, he is driven by an ambition to build what he describes as a financial empire — a goal inspired by previous successes launching payment media processing companies throughout Central America and Mexico. Within his current organization, he is committed to transforming strategic plans into tangible achievements alongside a dedicated team.
