From 2020 to 2022, Dr. De Silva held concurrent appointments as a paediatrician at Liverpool Community Health Network, Northshore Pediatrics, and Northwest Specialists. Notably, while at Northwest Specialists in 2021, Dr. De Silva participated in Aboriginal telehealth and videoconferencing clinics for rural locations in conjunction with Aboriginal services, ensuring access to care at no cost to patients.

From 2018 to 2019, Dr. De Silva served as a paediatric fellow at Liverpool Community Health Network in Australia. She then spent 2019 as a developmental fellow there, further developing advanced clinical skills and her experience in child health. Earlier roles included her time at The Children's Hospital in Westmead in Australia, initially as a basic paediatric trainee between 2013 and 2015 and then as an advanced trainee from 2015 to 2017. These formative years were preceded by service as paediatric registrar at Manly Hospital in Australia between 2009 and 2013, where Dr. De Silva gained comprehensive experience in paediatric medicine.

Dr. De Silva began her career in healthcare as a medical resident at Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila, Sri Lanka, from 2008 to 2009 after completing an internship as a medical resident in the professorial unit of the same hospital between 2007 and 2008. Before these clinical appointments, she contributed as a demonstrator and medical student tutor at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka from 2006 to 2007, where she was engaged in research and curriculum revision.

Academic excellence has been a hallmark throughout Dr. De Silva's journey. She was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka in 2006, where she was awarded a second-class upper division with 4 distinctions, establishing the foundation for her medical career. She then earned a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney in 2011 with a high distinction, which provided specialised training relevant to her clinical focus areas. In 2019, Dr. De Silva earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney under an academic merit scholarship, where her distinction equipped her with advanced knowledge in population health that continues to inform her approach to community-based pediatrics. Further demonstrating her professional dedication, she became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with a dual specialisation in general paediatrics and community child health. In addition to this, Dr. De Silva has completed several accreditations deepening her knowledge and expertise of developmental paediatrics, including Griffiths Developmental Scale Certification, and ADOS-2. Dr. De Silva values research and has published as the first author in peer-reviewed journals.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. De Silva has demonstrated ongoing commitment to civic engagement and charitable initiatives. From 2000 to 2008, she conducted multiple home visits through the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to educate and improve economic, medical and lifestyle outcomes for low socio-economic households. Dr. De Silva has also contributed annually through donations to Elders Homes and Children's Homes in her hometown in Sri Lanka, and provided charity services both in Sri Lanka and Australia by offering services without gap payment for families facing financial hardship. Since 2015, she has supported local school fundraisers by preparing food and working at stalls, further reflecting her dedication to community well-being. Furthermore, her efforts have extended to direct service delivery, educational sessions and support for vulnerable populations.

Throughout her career, Dr. De Silva has consistently been recognised for her high academic achievements, including being first in the district for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in Sri Lanka and receiving a scholarship along with 10 distinctions during her early academic pursuits.
