NEW YORK, NY, September 16, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Justin Gurland, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Maze NYC, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Gurland's professional journey is distinguished by his innovative leadership at the intersection of addiction recovery and hospitality. As founder and chief executive officer of The Maze since 2024, he has partnered with Tom Colicchio and Crafted Hospitality to create and lead New York City's first alcohol-free private members club, overseeing hospitality operations, membership, staff development and the club's overall guest experience. Driven by a desire to redefine social connection without alcohol, he created The Maze as a one-of-a-kind destination that combines exceptional dining, meaningful programming and authentic community in an alcohol-free environment. He is especially proud of assembling a talented team and bringing this vision to life, believing that surrounding himself with exceptional people is essential to long-term success.

Building on nearly two decades of experience in addiction recovery and behavioral health, he has dedicated his career to helping others find lasting recovery and connection. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles supporting individuals on their recovery journeys, experiences that shaped his belief in the power of community, connection and purpose. Those lessons ultimately inspired his vision for The Maze, a first-of-its-kind concept that reimagines how people gather, dine and socialize. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to helping others build healthier, more connected lives, bringing together his background in social work, recovery and hospitality to create an entirely new model for community.

His educational background has been instrumental in shaping his career trajectory. He earned a Master of Social Work from Hunter College in New York City in 2011 after completing a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont in 2005. His academic journey included overcoming initial setbacks during undergraduate admissions, which motivated him to pursue graduate studies with renewed focus. Admission to Hunter College marked a pivotal moment that enabled him to enter the field of addiction recovery. Additionally, he is a Licensed Master Social Worker and a graduate of the Hospitality Quotient Workshop.

His involvement extends beyond his professional roles into civic engagement and community service. Throughout his career, he has supported numerous recovery organizations and community initiatives, contributing his time and expertise to help individuals seeking lasting recovery. Additionally, he is active with Rodef Shalom.

Born in New York, Mr. Gurland comes from a family with deep roots in medicine and entrepreneurship. His grandfather established a medical practice as an ophthalmologist, followed by his father and brother, who are also physicians. The family business includes real estate holdings passed down through generations, with Mr. Gurland contributing whenever possible and learning valuable business principles from his father, whom he regards as an exceptional teacher and mentor.

Family life is central to his identity. He is married to Danielle, whose enthusiastic support has been vital to The Maze's development. Together they have two children, Jerry and Summer. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, attending live music events, enjoying nature and maintaining close relationships with friends.

A commitment to meditation has played a significant role in his approach to leadership and personal well-being. Practicing Vedic meditation twice daily has helped him slow down, reflect thoughtfully on decisions and maintain balance amid demanding responsibilities. He credits this practice with enhancing his ability to generate new ideas while remaining a values-driven leader who leads by example.

Looking ahead, he aims to establish The Maze as the leading model for alcohol-free hospitality, creating a blueprint for community-driven social spaces that can expand to cities across the United States and internationally. His goal is to foster inclusive communities that provide meaningful connections for those embracing alcohol-free lifestyles while continuing to innovate within the industry he has helped shape over nearly two decades.

He encourages others to pursue the passions that inspire them, recognizing that meaningful opportunities often arise unexpectedly. Guided by the belief that life is both precious and finite, he emphasizes the importance of making the most of each day with purpose and intention. This perspective continues to shape his personal outlook and professional approach, inspiring him to lead a life of impact, authenticity and service.
