TAOS, NM, September 18, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet S. Baucom has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

In 2026, Ms. Baucom became a mathematics webinar teacher with the American Pinnacle Academy and Miles University. Since 2008, she has helped students in grades 6-12, college, and graduate school excel in mathematics and statistics. She also supports doctoral candidates with quantitative and qualitative dissertation analysis and edits dissertations. To strengthen her instructional approach, she completed a course on artificial intelligence and now incorporates the technology into her mathematics lessons.

Since joining the academy, Ms. Baucom has taught webinars attended by as many as 600 students in a single session. Many participants reported developing a newfound appreciation for mathematics through her teaching. For Ms. Baucom, that response affirms a central belief: subject-matter knowledge is most effective when paired with genuine care for students and their learning experiences.

Recruited by the American Pinnacle Academy in 2025, Ms. Baucom began working there in January 2026 after nearly two decades as an independent mathematics teacher and senior analyst. From 2008 to 2026, she provided individualized mathematics instruction to learners at a range of academic levels, helping them build confidence in their abilities. Her work with Wyzant allowed her to refine her teaching methods and deepen her passion for connecting with students. She also received numerous testimonials from students at all levels who credited her with helping them develop essential mathematical skills.

In addition to her work in education, Ms. Baucom continues to provide consulting services intermittently, drawing on her extensive corporate background in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. She began her corporate career at a bank before joining the Research and Development Department at McDonnell Douglas, later Boeing, where employer-supported college study helped her achieve her goal of becoming a scientific programmer and analyst. In that role, she supported scientists and engineers by developing software for flight and submarine simulations as well as cooling systems built into aircraft. She subsequently worked for several start-up and technology companies, including OCTel, Lucent, Mint Technologies, and Amdocs Israel. Later, as a senior analyst at Chevron, she contributed to formulations and operations software design projects. She then accepted several senior analyst contract positions before transitioning fully into education.

Throughout her 25-year corporate career, Ms. Baucom made significant contributions to flight simulation research and development, including creating simulators for new fighter jets. Although she valued the technical demands of this work, she consistently sought roles in which her efforts could directly benefit others—a priority that ultimately guided her transition into education.

After moving to California in 1993, Ms. Baucom joined Vicorp Interactive Systems, a San Ramon telecommunications and satellite startup headquartered in Boston. Although she found the field engaging, the experience reinforced her desire to make mathematics a greater focus of her professional life. That goal later helped lead her toward full-time education and consulting.

Ms. Baucom's academic background has played a pivotal role in shaping her career. She earned an associate degree in mathematics from St. Louis Community College and a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Missouri, with concentrations in computer science, physics, and chemistry. To expand her expertise for the corporate sector, she later completed all but three courses toward a master's degree in telecommunications at Jones International University. The university closed before she could finish the program, and mathematics-focused online alternatives were not available at the time.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Baucom supports learners outside formal classroom settings by providing pro bono mathematics tutoring alongside her other teaching work. Looking ahead, she plans to establish an online mathematics academy called Mathematics Academy by Charlie Mira. She will use Charlie Mira as her pen name and Teach Math As, abbreviated TMA, as the academy's professional designation. The venture brings together her lifelong passions for mathematics and writing and reflects her enduring commitment to inspiring future generations of students.
