Ms. Eliatamby's earlier tenure at the World Bank began in the early 1990s as a Foodservices Manager, before moving to the Ronald Reagan Building. Ms. Eliatamby's academic journey began at age 18 when she left Malaysia for Switzerland to study hotel and restaurant management at the Cesar Ritz College. Immersed in a new culture and language, she completed rigorous coursework that combined academic study with hands-on internships. This formative experience required her to learn German within six months and adapt quickly to environments where English was not spoken. Encouraged by her mother and grandfather to pursue further education abroad, at 21, Ms. Eliatamby immigrated to the U.S. to attend Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management in 1991.

Throughout her career, Ms. Eliatamby has remained actively engaged in professional organizations that help shape the hospitality and food service management industry. She made history as the first Asian woman to serve as President of the Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management. After contributing through a range of committee roles, she was nominated to the organization's board and, within two years, emerged as a leading candidate for the presidency.

Ms. Eliatamby's civic engagement is equally extensive. She serves on the advisory council and was a past board director of Asian American Leadership Empowerment and Development (AALEAD), supporting educational enrichment, leadership development, and expanded opportunities for Asian Pacific American youth through after-school programs, summer initiatives, and mentoring. She is also committed to encouraging the next generation of hospitality leaders, with particular emphasis on supporting and empowering young women entering the profession. Through mentoring, she helps young professionals build confidence, develop practical skills, and navigate career opportunities. She also teaches dining etiquette to children and families in underserved communities with limited access to formal hospitality experiences, helping participants feel comfortable in new professional and social settings.

In recognition of her contributions to the field, Ms. Eliatamby received an Honorary Doctorate in foodservice from the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM). She has also received numerous awards, including a President's Award and Director's Award for Leadership from SHFM, a Silver Plate Award for Food Service Operator of the Year from IFMA The Food Away from Home Association, and a Top Achiever Operator Award at the Dealer of the Year Gala hosted by Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine.
