PEMBROKE, MA, September 23, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Micolene Boddie has been recognized for achievement in healthcare.
Ms. Boddie's career reflects a steadfast commitment to innovation and patient care in physical therapy and ergonomic product design. She is the Founder and chief executive officer of Restful Pump. Due to the vast function of her product line, it has been rebranded to Boddie Balance Positioning Systems. Since 2022, she has led the company in designing and engineering ergonomic positioning systems, developing Class 1 and Class 2 medical devices, collecting and analyzing clinical data, managing product development and manufacturing, conducting one-on-one patient care, consulting with regulatory advisors, and building partnerships with healthcare facilities and neonatal intensive care units. Her expertise in ergonomic product design and postpartum lactation physical therapy has been widely recognized. Among her most notable accomplishments is the creation of an ergonomic positioning system for lactating mothers — a product she notes is unique in the global marketplace. Ms. Boddie's work has received significant recognition from medical professionals, including neonatologists, OB-GYNs, and lactation consultants. She has collected real-world data over 3+ years to ensure the highest standards for her products, refusing to release any subpar units. A case study demonstrating increased breast milk flow and volume using her chair was submitted to the Journal of Clinical Lactation for publication in 2026. One particularly meaningful moment occurred when a stressed-out, low supplier of breast milk mother of twins in a neonatal intensive care unit was able to produce more milk for the first time using Ms. Boddie's chair. Her chair was also successfully used by a Hospital Resident returning from maternity leave for charting or resting during their 12-18+ hour shift.
Prior to establishing Restful Pump, now Boddie Balance, Ms. Boddie served as a physical therapist at ProActFit LLC from 2014 to 2022. In this capacity, she provided outpatient care while further refining her clinical skills and deepening her understanding of the needs of patients across diverse populations.
Ms. Boddie's professional journey in the health and wellness field began as a licensed Personal Trainer and then Strength then Conditioning Specialist as she was studying for her Athletic Training Board Exams. Shortly thereafter her passions took her to graduate school for physical therapy where she felt she could positively impact more lives. She was staff physical therapist at Sports Medicine Outpatient PT from 2006 to 2008. Shortly after she wanted to continue to see the world and took on a position as a traveling physical therapist with inpatient and outpatient assignments from Boston to Oregon to Arizona and Florida and more. This role allowed her to serve patients in various regions, broadening her perspective on best practices in physical therapy to start her own therapy practice that focused on the whole patient. During her last travel assignment in 2013, she sustained life-threatening skull fractures from an accident, which required a MedFlight. Nonetheless she was able to persevere, and returned to her position as an outpatient physical therapist at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where she continued as a staff PT contributing to patient recovery in a renowned rehabilitation setting while also returning to the Competitive Fitness Stage.
Throughout her career, Ms. Boddie has achieved several milestones. She holds patents for novel shoulder rehabilitation devices (2016 - ongoing) and novel ergonomic positioning systems for lactating mothers (2019 - ongoing) and a smart feeding technology bassinet classified as a Class 2 medical device (2025).
Ms. Boddie's educational background has played a pivotal role in shaping her professional achievements. She earned a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island, which provided advanced clinical training essential for her later innovations. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Springfield College, graduating in 2000. Her academic pursuits were complemented by certifications that have enhanced her expertise: licensed physical therapist through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy since 2006; certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2004; and athletic trainer certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer since 2001.
Her drive stems from formative experiences as a gymnast, beginning at age three, during which she developed determination and resourcefulness — qualities that have defined her approach throughout her life. Growing up without significant financial means fueled her desire to provide greater opportunities for her children. This motivation was evident during her youth, as she excelled as a Girl Scout selling door-to-door, achieved top sales as a bartender and waitress, and organized group skydiving trips in Australia while she studied abroad during her college years. Her entry into physical therapy was influenced by both academic training in sports medicine, with a minor in sports psychology and nearly 15 years of competitive gymnastics experience. After becoming a mother herself and facing challenges with breastfeeding, Ms. Boddie researched solutions that highlighted the importance of ergonomic positioning for improved milk production — ultimately inspiring her transition from general outpatient orthopedics to postpartum women's health.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Boddie is actively involved in civic activities. She volunteers at her children's elementary school, reflecting a commitment to supporting education and youth development within her community. She received honorable mention for Best Physical Therapy Practice in the South Shore of Massachusetts in 2020.
In her personal life, Ms. Boddie was born on the South Shore of Massachusetts and is raising two sons as a single/solo mother. She describes herself as fulfilling both parental roles while deliberately teaching her boys practical skills such as fishing, cooking, campfire safety and outdoor living during annual recreational vehicle camping trips together. Her leisure interests include fitness, rollerblading, biking, skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, cooking, robot building, Legos and engaging in creative activities with her children.
Looking ahead, Ms. Boddie intends to secure Class 1 medical device registration for her chair and other space-saving ergonomic systems while pursuing insurance eligibility, as well as health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts eligibility to make these products more accessible for mothers — especially those whose infants are cared for in neonatal intensive care units. She aims to strengthen relationships with hospital decision-makers by leveraging support from leading medical professionals and plans to introduce a second of her 15+ product line: a smart feeding-technology bassinet designed to deliver real-time wellness data to mothers and neonatal staff. Her product lines sit in the residential, corporate (PUMP Act) and medical spaces with possible insurance reimbursement, residential rentals and on rare occasions opportunities to purchase and/or upgrade with company buy backs.
Ms. Boddie also expresses a strong desire to become more involved with the Boys and Girls Club and other community opportunities when possible, driven by the belief that she will give back many times over through the positive impact of her products on families in her community.
