Mr. Albanese has distinguished himself as an expert in youth sports program administration and recreational athletics coaching, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to developing local athletic programs and supporting the well-being of young athletes. In 2025, he accepted the role of park director at Sandy Springs Youth Sports Inc, where he manages park operations and field maintenance, coordinates with city officials on upgrades and master planning, registers program participants, and maintains ongoing communication with families. His responsibilities also include marketing programs within the community, managing social media and the organization's website, overseeing scholarship program funding and distribution, fundraising through sponsorships and donations, procuring and maintaining sports equipment, and ensuring that all families applying for scholarships receive support.
Taking on this newly created position represented a significant transition for Mr. Albanese. He had previously interviewed for a similar opportunity at Sandy Springs nearly a decade earlier but was not selected. When approached about the current opening, it was initially offered as a part-time general manager role. Mr. Albanese advocated for a full-time position with health insurance, which the organization ultimately provided. Leaving behind a well-established private school environment after 15 years was a difficult decision, but his first year as park director was marked by notable success. He achieved a 12 percent increase in program enrollment — the largest year-over-year growth the park had seen in approximately ten years — despite concerns about declining local youth populations due to nearby elementary school closures. Mr. Albanese attributes this accomplishment to enhanced local marketing efforts, increased community outreach to raise awareness of the park, and his consistent daily on-site presence, which fosters strong communication with program families.
Concurrently, Mr. Albanese has served as head baseball coach at Sandy Springs Youth Sports Inc. since 2017 and will continue in this capacity through 2025. His leadership in this role has been instrumental in shaping the experiences of countless young athletes and in supporting the organization's mission to provide accessible recreational opportunities.
Prior to his tenure at Sandy Springs Youth Sports Inc, Mr. Albanese held several key positions at St. Martin's Episcopal School in Atlanta from 2009 to 2025. He served as head women's basketball coach during the 2024 to 2025 academic year and as alumni coordinator from 2023 to 2025. Additionally, he worked as an assistant teacher from 2009 to 2025 and served as head baseball coach throughout the same period. These roles allowed him to influence student-athletes across multiple sports while contributing to both academic and extracurricular programming.
From 2019 to 2025, Mr. Albanese also served as an assistant football coach at Marist School, further expanding his impact within Atlanta's youth sports community.
Mr. Albanese's educational background includes coursework in communication at Kennesaw State University and an associate degree in education. The foundation provided by these academic pursuits has enabled him to engage effectively with students, families and colleagues throughout his career. He credits much of his professional growth to mentors such as Mark McDaniel, athletic director at St. Martin's Episcopal School, whose encouragement was pivotal when Mr. Albanese questioned whether he could succeed in his current leadership role. He also acknowledges that his mother's career as a teacher inspired his own path into education and coaching.
Throughout his career, Mr. Albanese has remained dedicated to civic engagement and volunteerism. He has volunteered as a baseball coach with Sandy Springs Youth Sports and as a football coach in Atlanta. During his time at St. Martin's Episcopal School, he offered informal support to various causes within the school community. At Sandy Springs Youth Sports, he organized a sporting equipment donation program in partnership with Level the Playing Field to benefit underprivileged children.
Born in Atlanta, Mr. Albanese values spending time with his nieces and nephews, enjoys following local sports teams, and occasionally plays golf. He comes from a family deeply involved in youth athletics; several of his brothers and sisters reside in the Atlanta area, and his stepsister established a junior golf program at Eastlake.
