Dr. Hou has more than eight years of professional experience, and excels in conducting research in immunology and virology. He is responsible for conducting research in immunology to discover therapeutic approaches for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. He has published research papers in scientific journals and considers it to be his greatest professional accomplishment. He stays current with the trends in his profession by reading industry-related publications.

Dr. Hou earned his Ph.D. in Immunology, with a major in Biology and a minor in Microbiology from Northwestern University in 2004. He is affiliated with the Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Society, The American Association of Immunologists, the American Society for Virology, the Clinical Immunology Society, the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, the Society for Leukocyte Biology, the American Society for Microbiology, the International Society of NeuroImmunology, and the Inflammation Research Association. He received the 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century Award from the International Biographical Center in Cambridge, England, the Best Presentation Award for Immunology Research Poster Session Competition at the Annual Microbiology-Immunology Department Retreat in 2007, the Student Scholarship Award from Asia-Pacific International Molecular Biology Network in 2003, the Scholarship Award from the Shanghai-Unilever Research and Development Fund in 2003 and the Diao Scholarship Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003.
