/24-7PressRelease/ - Chestnut Hill, MA, July 16, 2008, Janett I. Cordoves, Resident Director for Residential Life at Boston College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of student affairs.
With a specialization in social justice, community services, crisis management and advocacy for students, Ms. Cordoves is responsible for overseeing public affairs and emergency issues, assisting students in planning their careers, counseling, conducting diversity training programs and coordinating campus programs for social justice. Previously a facility coordinator for residential life, she considers organizing a 48-hour conference retreat called "Respect" to be the most rewarding aspect of her career, and she attributes her success to being focused and open-minded. She is the author of "From Montclair to Chestnut Hill," an article that has appeared in Nexus and The Navigator. She stays current with the trends in her profession by browsing the Internet and reading industry-related publications and believes that the most important issue facing her profession today is the difficulty faced by administrators in reaching diversity and multicultural retention levels in faculty and students.
Ms. Cordoves received her Master of Arts in Higher Education from Montclair State University in 2005 and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Montclair State University. She is affiliated with the Massachusetts Association for Women in Education, the Association of Jesuit Colleges & Universities and the National Administrators of Student Personnel Association. She is nominated for the 2008 Community Service Award and volunteers with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Ms. Cordoves hopes to eventually obtain her Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
An authority on student affairs, Ms. Cordoves is available to speak with the media and may be reached via email at [email protected].
