Dr. Mireya P rez-Bustillo brings 34 years of experience in education to the College of New Rochelle. An expert in Latin American women's studies and Spanish literature, she holds a Ph. D. in Spanish Literature from Rutgers University. She has served as a department chair and was a University Associate at New York University Faculty Resource Network for 18 years. She frequently gives workshops to medical personnel on Latino values and health. She attributes her success to her passion for learning and fascination with human rights issues, particularly those dealing with the empowerment of women. She considers being able to promote the female image in education and literature to be the most fulfilling aspect of her work.

Dr. Mireya P rez-Bustillo is also the author of the books La pĂ­cara y la dama; Casos en la Comunidad (with Gene Kupfershmid); The Female Body: Perspectives of Latin American Women Artists (with Raysa Amador); and the poetry collection, Luna Azteca. Her poetry and short stories appear in various publications, and she is currently working on her first novel.

Dr. Mireya P rez-Bustillo is an ordained Interfaith Minister and licensed marriage officiate, performing weddings in Spanish and English. Her professional affiliations include the American Poetry Association, the Museum of Modern Art, the Poet's Circle, La Revista del Hada, One Spirit Learning Alliance and the National Writers Union.
