Press Release July 30, 2008
Dr. Sims specializes in laryngology, performing arts medicine, and voice care for professional singers.

/24-7PressRelease/ - Chicago, IL, July 30, 2008, Dr. H. Steven Sims, Director of the Chicago Institute for Voice Care, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in laryngology.

With more than 13 years of professional experience, Dr. Sims specializes in laryngology, performing arts medicine, and voice care for professional singers. He is responsible for meeting patients, scheduling, conducting conferences, managing administrative duties, reconciling healthcare disparities and advocating public policy. Dr. Sims stays current with the trends in his profession by reading industry-related publications and attending conferences. He has published articles on cultural competence and laryngology in respiratory medicine and presented lectures on gospel singers at the Voice Foundation. He attributes his success to his upbringing and to the support he receives from his parents, and believes that the deterioration of the doctor-patient relationship is the most important issue facing his profession today.

A certified laryngologist through the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Sims received his MD from the Yale School of Medicine and his Bachelor of Arts in African and African American Studies from Yale University. He is a fellow for the International College of Surgeons, a consultant for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, a faculty fellow for the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is affiliated with the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders. He hopes to expand and develop his practice, and as a musician, he is also interested in singing and composing music in the future.

The Chicago Institute for Voice Care is organizing The Midwest Voice Conference in August 2008. An authority on taking care of singers, Dr. Sims is available to speak with the media and may be reached via email at [email protected].
